Mike was good. I think we have learned to communicate well enough to continue working on our marriage without the weekly counseling at this point with Mike's help it is still a work in progress. But, we are making progress. Thanks - Greg
Only had one session. I've seen many different kind therapist or counselors and I get a nice fun honest caring and learning vibe from Angelia. Very opened in telling herself about her and letting each of us share about ourselfs. I'm looking forward to many more sessions to resolve our relationship as well moving forward for a much more knowledge in communication in my relationship
my husband and I went to Dave because we were having marital trouble. We would find ourselves in constant arguments and both of us were very unhappy. Dave was friendly and helpful. He gave us techniques we still use to this day to help prevent arguments. After our sessions I felt closer to my husband. I recommend Dave for everyone who needs counseling, especially couples.
Scott wastes no time getting to the core and causes of our issues. After 2 sessions with Scott my husband and I, who recently moved to Portland, learned more about ourselves and each other than we had in a year with our previous counselor. Scott not only can relate to us, he offers professional research-based advice and strategies as well as recommending several quality books that have inspired both of us to become better people. Because of this we are working on ourselves everyday, not just when we meet with Scott, and our relationship has strengthened immensely. I highly recommend Scott- counseling is his obvious passion and he is commited to helping his clients.
Life can be challenging. Life can be painful. Life can be tumultuous. These hardships are defining moments in your life. They are filled with gifts. They are filled with wisdom. They make the good times all that much more special. They show you what inner work you need to focus on. They mold you into who you are. A common misperception is that by having a session means there is something wrong with your current relationship/s. Quite the contrary, I think we are where we are supposed to be. The question is do you want more? Nurture your communication skills. Deal with something that makes you feel "stuck". Or, you just want some support on your own personal growth. During your session, we will work on ways to make your current and future relationships as healthy as possible. We'll work on communication techniques that honor you and the other person. We'll work on ways to ensure that you are heard and seen. We'll work on boundaries that protect you from feeling hurt by others' actions or choices. We'll work on creating processes to deal with reactive emotions, such as anger, sadness and hopelessness.
Although we ended up holding off on pursuing counseling. Doug was very accommodating to what we needed. In that respect I would highly recommend him.
Devi was very welcoming, explained her approach to counseling and asked probing questions at the right time, but allowed us the ability to fully express our thoughts. She quickly made us feel comfortable to open up, and was very affirmative and non judgemental of our feelings and ultimate outcome from counseling. We have only had our first initial session, but are planning on booking future sessions to further explore and hopefully develop skills to deepen our relationship.
A couple of my family members have gone to see Michele in the past and I had the opportunity to visit with her right after a familial crisis. Michele was an excellent listener and helped me tremendously. She listened to me and performed reiki on me for about two months. I believe the best kind of counselors/therapists/life coaches etc. allow you to come to the root of your issue on your own (rather than through lecturing) and Michele was no exception. She was patient, kind and her energy allowed me to open up to her easily. I would recommend Michele to any person who is dealing with loss or trauma. She was my guide and helped me learn that the most important person I need to love is myself.
If you want an uplifting experience intertwined with intelligent, positive input, Shannon is a great person to hang out with. She not only models her relationship gardening techniques, but she lives the paradigm. Be ready to learn and to receive quality support for nurturing your most important relationships. My husband and I have been together almost 30 years. Not an easy feat by any means but the most important relationship in both of our lives. The ups and downs have been extreme at times and how nice it is to have a specialist in relationship counseling close at hand to help us through those rough periods. How lucky for all of us!
