My experience of this world is multifaceted, and supports a curiosity through life that sparks further and greater understanding. While my walks and educations afford me abilities and competencies to meet most all the needs a home or other structure may have, and to problem solve trickier mechanical issues in the complex systems of the surrounding physical realm, and to lead and mentor crew members, and to relate to a broad customer and personnel base, I have not lost sight of what I believe to be the most important aspect of success, which is to remain a student, always. Every situation and moment is different from the next and demands specific investigation and acknowledgement.
My character as a contributing member of the workforce stems predominantly from nearly two decades on the water as a commercial fisherman in Alaska and abound, and from an ever greater need to plant myself here in Portland for the sake of my family. My dabbling in landlocked careers and schooling spanned from Firefighting and Emergency Medical, to cab driving and bicycle wrenching. Always growing up I was fixing things and tinkering around with things I shouldn't have been, and have been in home remodel and repair since about 2010 and licensed as a General Contractor, running my own business since 2016.
I enjoy what I do and have become well equipped through the years to accomplish descent sized tasks, but very much appreciate remodels, repairs and minor additions over new construction. I harbor a philosophy of building which keeps consideration of different materials used, minimalism and thoughtfulness about waste, creative puzzling and integration, reclamation and re-use, and spectrum impact at the forefront. Aligning with this philosophy naturally enacts attention to detail and quality, efficiency and safety.
I am a writer, musician and artist in my short down time, and I carry the lessons of this work with me in daily life.
