Do you want to give yourself a gift? Turk is the biggest gift you are likely to give yourself. Turk is motivational, inspirational and an awesome guy! I met him through Thumbtack almost three months ago. Working out with him changed my life. If you are getting serious about changing your life then stop reading this review and call Turk Fickling. I was already athletic and had a low body fat percentage. My goal was to become stronger, bigger and to get that athletic beach body. I didn’t know anything about nutrition and I thought that I knew how to do a good exercise, but reality showed different. Turk changed my diet with a personalized nutrition and training program and I started to see great results after week one. Approx. three months later, my body made some huge transformations. Without Turk, I wouldn’t have known what I’m capable of and how I need to live a healthy life. I’ve accomplished more in these three months than I had in my last 10 years. My lifestyle is so much better since I have met Turk and committed to train with him. If you want to train with a genuinely awesome guy, who knows everything about fitness and nutrition and who will do whatever he can to reach your personal goals, then train with Turk. You WILL get results and you will NOT regret it. Fitness and nutrition are a part of my life now. Calling him will be the best move you can make if you are serious about changing your life for the better. No matter what your goal is!

I've worked with a number of trainers throughout my life but have never had one as dedicated to my success as Travis. His approach is 360 - From Fitness to Nutrition to Sleep and beyond. I'm only a month in and am already making a dent in my goals. Three enthusiastic thumbs up :)

I was very satisfied and impressed with the level of expertise, acute knowledge, and passion that he has for his profession. Apart from his physical training, he is well versed in food nutrition, which in my opinion is a potent mix for anyone serious about fitness. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is willing to change and commit to a healthier lifestyle.

I first started training with Alex at West Coast Strength in 2013 after having my second child. In my initial consultation we just talked. He instantly put me at ease and asked about my goals, lifestyle and nutrition. Through our conversation, I felt like he really took the time to get a sense of who I was, and what I wanted to get from training. He took what I told him and used it to create a strength training program and nutrition plan specific to my needs. He did an amazing job of making my daunting goal seem achievable. Over the past four years I've watched him train hundreds of people, from high school athletes to elite bodybuilders to moms and older adults looking to lose weight and change their lifestyle. What is unique about Alex is his ability to connect people...he cares about each and every one of his clients and it shows through the enormous amount of time and energy he puts into helping them achieve their goals. He leads by example and lives the healthy lifestyle he and his business at West Coast Strength promote. My first meeting with Alex I remember him telling me that results wouldn't come overnight but if I could "put in the work and be patient" the results would come. Patience doesn't come easily to me, and initially I struggled with the concept. Since then I've come to realize he was right, and that his initial advice applies not only to my fitness, but to my life as well. Working with him the past few years changed my physique, but it has also made me mentally stronger. I would recommend him and West Coast Strength to anyone looking to make a similar life change.

I didn’t realize how out of balance I was until I started working with Gin. She helped me figure out that my digestion and my cheese intolerance were creating havoc in my body and showing up on my skin. I am now a regular skincare and nutrition client. I love the holistic practices too! So Green!

I worked with Will on several occasions in terms of nutritional counseling and race preparation. Despite the potential disadvantages of a virtual coaching arrangement, Will made it possible through punctual communication via email, texts and google documents. He made the training fun and interesting. I plan on using his services in the future.

Caitlin was terrific! She wants to know your needs before she starts her interview with you, so as to focus her interview totally on what you need and are looking for in nutritional help. Her recipes are quick and very easy, and are amazingly tasty! In just two hours she prepared seven dishes with detailed information on what each food item offers as nutritional properties, and explained just how to prepare each dish. She was lively and entertaining and very professional. I look forward to her next workshop!!

I feel so much better after working with Steven. Its a night and day difference what it felt like training before and after. I didn't feel safe before, I wasn't sure I was doing everything right, and didn't know how to program correctly. Now I can do squats and feel safe, and my booty is starting to look good!

There are so many counselors, healers, therapists, lifestyle gurus and professional advice-givers out there that it's easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices. As a mother of three, I've spent who knows how much time and money looking for effective support for my family's health, only to find superficial, time consuming programs that may produce short-lived results (that require constant re-upping to maintain any effectiveness), but never really get to the heart of what we need. Nothing I've tried has come close to the kind of immediate, deep affect that working with Krista has provided. Her methods are so gentle and intuitive that it's hard to believe the powerful results. Within a week of our first hour-long session, my energy and sense of well-being were raised dramatically. I felt clearer and more confident in my body's ability to heal and was amazed when the results started reaching beyond the original issue for which I had sought her out. Five years later, I don't hesitate to turn to Krista first for all of my and my family's health questions, from nutrition to mental/emotional and relationship dilemmas. Her compassionate manner and truly holistic approach have given me the support I've needed to overcome blocks and reach my goals, without the confusing and often guilt-inducing yo-yo effect I've experienced with other practitioners. She understands that our lives aren't cookie-cutter and our issues aren't compartmentalized, and so is able to invest in the whole client and get to the actual root of a problem, instead of just temporarily easing the symptoms. If you've tried all the healthy living fads, diet programs, all the different therapies, alternative and conventional, and are still feeling stuck, please set up an appointment with Krista, and get ready for a breakthrough!

I did a cleanse with Teri that was amazing. She sent daily support and words of wisdom that kept me focused and on the right track to healthier eating. It went so well that I continued on it for 2 months longer than I needed to. My acid reflux has disappeared, I've lost weight and I have so much more energy.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
