Tom has been teaching piano to my kids (aged 10 and 12) and me for two and a half years. We all love him. All three of us have come a long way in our abilities to play piano and read music in what feels like a short time. Tom is very knowledgeable, able to answer questions on the fly and create lesson plans that keep us challenged and engaged. He is great with the kids and is all-around very friendly and reliable. The kids have played music at school and at recitals with great self-confidence, and I believe learning an instrument has been a huge lesson in achieving long-term goals for all of us. More recently, Tom has been teaching my youngest (7) the drums and is able to tailor lessons to all of our varying attention spans and abilities. I can’t give him enough praise.

Tom is a gifted drummer and great teacher. Every lesson built on prior lessons and took good account of my progress and my challenges. Highly recommend!

I’ve been taking lessons from Tom for at least a few years now. I had been self-teaching and clearly not advancing in a very productive manner along with garnering some bad habits. I’m very happy I found Tom and I’m making great advances though there’s always a long way to go. He is an amazing drummer (go see Euge Organ Trio at Solae’s) and a great teacher. He seems to thoroughly enjoy playing & teaching. He’s very well versed in just about all music/rhythms on the planet. (That may be an exaggeration, but seems that way to me) He’s particularly adept/experienced in the jazz/funk/street music of New Orleans as well as with the rhythms historically feeding into the New Orleans mix, including Latin, African & native rhythms. And, this has evolved into one of my main interests now as well. Check his web site, he’s had incredible experience & education. I find it completely worthwhile to learn from a clear professional (especially compared to some prior lessons I’d tried). I’d be happy to expound/discuss further if you'd like, contact me at jkulik@hotmail.com.
