FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. Most technicians charge an extra fee for the pitch adjustment that can be necessary after a piano has been neglected, and that is considered legitimate. I don't - I've tuned so many pianos I can usually do a great tuning in a normal time. Tuning fee is a flat rate: $100, and other work is done at an hourly rate of $70. Non-written appraisals, pre-purchase inspections, etc., carry a service call fee ($75), plus a small travel fee of 50 cents per mile, one-way.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My customers love booking their own appointments with my online scheduler at pianositter.com!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have degrees in French Horn Performance (Indiana U) and Piano Technology (Michigan State). I've been a Registered Piano Technician, P.T.G., for nearly 30 years and taken advantage of learning opportunities provided by the Piano Technicians Guild.
