I hired Jason to install new cabinets in my kitchen. This being my first remodeling project on my house, I got several quotes for the job. While Jason's quote wasn't the lowest, he saw every angle of the project along with all potential issues which may occur. He got the job done on the timeline he stated and for the price he quoted. He was able to save my counter-tops, which was the most important aspect of the job to me. I already have several more projects I want to accomplish and will hire Jason for all of them. I highly recommend him.

I hired Accurate Pro Home and Building Services to install an outlet in the bathroom and change the lighting fixtures. They came out for an estimate the same day that I called. They called to schedule the job later that evening. The project took less than 2 hours. The quality of work was great. I would definitely recommend them and hire again in the future.

We purchased a washer and gas dryer from Craigslist. The dryer would not heat so we reached out for help. Frank came by to diagnose the issue at no charge. The next day he came back with the part we needed replaced (unit needed a new igniter) and had us going in about 20 minutes. Very affordable, fast, and honest. Would highly recommend and will certainly call again for future repairs.

I hired R.K. Concrete & Contracting to install a concrete patio, steps, and a pathway to our deck steps. I was extremely happy with the results and will be calling them back for our future concrete work! Rob and his guys were really pleasant and professional and they were onsite at my house every day until the job was done. Also, Rob designed the layout to include curves in the concrete instead of everything being squared off. This was a great idea and made the results stand out even more. I also had them clear out an area of thick brush in our back yard. Again, very reasonable pricing and excellent work.

We’d been trying to get some repair work done on our deck for nearly a year. The original builder blew us off. One or two other companies stopped by, looked at it and never gave a bid, figuring it wasn’t worth their time. When John came out, he pointed out some additional problems that could cause a potential safety issue. We agreed to fix the additional problems and John and his crew finished the job in the time agreed. The deck is much more solid now and we’d be happy to recommend The Wright Contractor and hire them for future jobs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
