Laurel was wonderful from the start! Great communication on accommodating our needs for my niece's Sweet 16th Birthday Party. She played the songs from our song list & took requests as well. The party was hoping & everyone had a blast! I would highly recommend Laurel & Keystone Entertainment for your next event! Thank you Laurel!!

The food Brian prepares is always fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. I highly recommend McClaren's catering for your next event. I especially enjoy some of his unique dishes such as Root Beer Pulled Pork with molasses sauce, his Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad and let's not forget, the Balsamic Orange Brussel Sprouts...yum! Brian treats each event as if it were his own, leaving your guests stuffed yet wanting more.

I had the opportunity to meet Thom and his assistant. The were hired to make balloon centerpieces and entertainment. The event was at the Sherwood Events Center for a Safari Baby shower. Thom was on time there were issues with the set up time on the venues end. So we all were behind schedule for set up. The safari balloon center pieces complimented the theme. Overall we were pleased with the Outcome.

To say that Chef Jacob exceeded our expectations is an understatement. Every detail, from the planning to the event, was completely wonderful! From my first conversation with him, I could immediately sense how professional and passionate Chef Jacob was about his work. Although I didn’t have many specifics in mind, he ensured that every detail I requested was accounted for. I asked Chef Jacob to make the 45th anniversary dinner for my parents a truly special experience, and he delivered. It was indeed so wonderful that my parents couldn’t even talk about it without crying in sharing their total amazement with the experience. They described it as one of the best experiences of their lifetime. I consider my parents some of the most excellent cooks I know, but they insisted that the meal Chef Jacob prepared was the best they’ve ever had, and that it was better than any restaurant they could have chosen. Chef Jacob helped me design a delicious menu for my parents’ dinner, and tailored it based on the information I provided regarding their overall tastes and likes. The menu included an appetizer, salad, dinner, and dessert, and every part of the meal was prepared from scratch. Beyond the care taken in preparing and cooking the meal, however, was Chef Jacob’s warm and welcoming personality. He did not hesitate to immediately begin getting to know my parents, and as they put it, they felt as though he was someone they had known for years. Chef Jacob even made sure to take pictures of them sharing their champagne toast. He did not rest until the entire meal was finished, and left the kitchen more spotless than when he arrived. At the end of the meal, he presented my parents with a gift basket, filled with edible and decorative delights, something that was planned all on his own and was a complete surprise to both me and my parents. From beginning to end, and every detail in between, Chef Jacob created an experience of a lifetime.

I am Sidney McDonald. I am one of Rae Colemans very satisfied vendors. I am happy to be on her vendor lists. Rae plans her events with great attention to detail. That eliminates those last second emergencies & hassles. Her lists of venues is to be quite inclusive. She seems to know where excellent venues are anywhere in Allegheny County. Not only that, but many of these venues have outstanding relations with her. She seems to have preferred status with most of them.Other than the venues themselves, I have always marveled at just how Rae is able to express and interpret her clients wishes and hopes into realities that are often so visually spectacular. I ALWAYS take photos when I am a vendor at her events. Everyone of them are simply unique and special. She is not one of those cookie cutter event planners. Raes clients certainly get their moneys worth. I have yet to hear any grumbling at any of her events. And I have been to many of them. She seems to keep them very satisfied with her presentations, as well as her attention to their wishes. Most importantly though, when you sit with Rae to plan an event. . . She listens. She tries to do what is the best way to give you just what you want. Her events become the actualization of those wants. And that makes each one unique and exciting. This makes for memorable events, which we vendors love to be a part of.Lastly, her potential clients should know that Rae has followers. There are those of us who just love to support her events. We are all proud to give her the benefits of our word of mouth promotions during the course of our activities. I am a great believer in Rae Coleman and her Enhanced Creativity Event Planning. She is truly one of the best at what she does. Shes a 5-Star event promoter.

NPC and IFBB Competitors - Melissa knows what we need! She can match the tanning product; she will show up at your hotel or the venue, and she will have you ready for stage! I booked for hair and makeup and was very pleased with her work! She also was great about communicating with me before the event (taking my photos, asking about the color of my suit, etc). I had never met her before and was was competing out of state . . . if I compete in Pittsburgh in the future, I will book her again.

The folks were delightful to work with. My event was 300 miles from my home, and The Chef and I Catering was recommended to me by another caterer in the Pittsburgh area. Their representative was very responsive via phone and email. He helped me a lot to plan for feeding a large crowd, even though I only needed the meat from them. They delivered right on time and the portions were generous. Best of all the barbecue chicken and pulled pork were delicious! I would definitely recommend The Chef and I to anyone looking for quality food at reasonable prices! Give them a call soon!

Christa seriously helped keep my fiance and I sane during our 4 month engagement. We had a very short period of time to get everything together before we were moving out of state and she helped with everything from vendor recommendations (which were picked to perfection when it came to meeting our budget) to taking care of all of the set up and tear down. She always was able to fix things when they weren't going our way and the day of the event went sooo smoothly. It was a blur to us but we had quite a few guests tell us it was the best wedding they've ever been to which was a huge complement! We highly recommend her and she is incredibly well priced even though her help is seriously invaluable. Thank you!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.
