The service was top notch work. Before searching for the quote, I had bad experience with other roofing contractor several years ago. Hence, I had a hard time, trusting the bids I was asking for. Until I found Frank Maxwell and Robin through this website, Frank came out next day to give the quote for new bigger deck and siding..... A real big project in my book. The quote was average...not the cheapest. AND IT IS WORTH! Frank, Robin, and Jeff did the marvelous work. They built real throughly and carefully. A beautiful siding..... Can't express how great deck looks. What's more, they made sure that my deck is well regulated by the city requirement. Robin always kept me up to the date with the work underway. If you are looking for the quotes, stop here... Don't go further. Give them a call. You won't regret!

We had a leaking roof off the back part of our house. I dealt with Charles and had a beautiful brand new roof within two days. He was courteous, professional, and timely. I appreciate the quality work and highly recommend them for any roofing needs.

My wife and I hired Leo recently to help us demo a kitchen and dining room to move forward with a remodel. He showed up on time to give us a bid, which was quite reasonable, then returned the next day to remove 2 large radiators, remove flooring, and move a built in cabinet. He was communicative and professional and we plan to keep using his services throughout our project.

Steve Efferin was one of the first to respond and gave an honest opinion and a fair quote. We needed the asphalt sealant done quickly before putting the house on the market and he was there the next day. Ours was not an ideal job, but Steve tackled it and we are pleased with the outcome. Would definitely recommend Efferins Roofing & Asphalt maintenance.

The only person I trust to work with my family for any home improvement! If he hadn't helped us last winter I don't think we would have made it. He can do any repairs and he will work with you. He replaced all my water lines, installed new floating flooring, changed out an old electric box for a new one, all new furnace, all new roof. He can tackle the most simple of electrical work to the most advanced house repairs, with ease and is super efficient with time!

Pros: Excellent professionalism, Very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, Delivered service as expected and guaranteed. Cons: Customer hand-off from Salesman to Work Site Leader missing. Communication On October 28th, I had my entire roof replaced by Zuta Pro Roofers. It started off a little rocky because I knew the day they were coming and not the time. I called the salesman Paul and he informed me that they were working on the roof. I was able to make some adjustments at work and drop in while they were installing my roof. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient and quick they were on installing my roof. Based on my conversation with Paul, they started around 11AM and I got there around 4PM. When I got there 80% of the roof was done. Their salesman Paul mentioned the job would be done in 6 hours when I received the quote, but I must admit, I was a little skeptical. It was awesome to see that he was actually right! After the work crew left, I talked to the Work Site Leader, Lucas, about concerns I didn't communicate prior to the installation and questions around the roof installation process. Lucas was extremely accomodating. He came over the next morning to answer my questions and address my concerns (explain the difference between the metal gutter shields I expected and the mesh ones I received as well as removing a previously installed antenna). I must say this is the best experience I have had with a contractor since I have been a home owner (10 months now). Zuta Pro Roofing has set a new bar for what to expect when contracting house work. Overall, if I had to do this again, I would hire them in a heartbeat. Their excellent professionalism, customer service, and great workmanship overshadow the communication hiccup we had.

I was thrilled with both the price and the work of Wizard Roofing. They gave me the lowest quote of every company I met with. They were able to start within the week, and the job was done in one day! They were responsive to my needs and the roof looks great! The workers were respectful and really efficient! Love that it's a small family business so you really feel like a priority. There's no waiting on hold when you call them, and you always reach the same person when you call. Love them And would recommend them to anyone.

If I could give Crompton Customs more stars, I would. Jeep was able to take our vision for how we wanted our house to turn out and he turned it into reality for us. We couldn’t be happier with his quality of work. He refinished three rooms of hardwood in a 70 year old house that now look like new construction floors, he replaced all the trim including baseboard and crown molding. His quality of work is unbelievable and we will be using Crompton Customs for any new updates we do in the future. Simply the best, and I wouldn’t consider using anyone else. Can not recommend Crompton Customs strongly enough.

Our roof became damaged due to a bad storm. Jason came out right away and patched the roof so it would not leak. He put us on his schedule for a new roof. Jason gave us a good price, comparing to other roofers. Within a short time he had our new roof installed. They did a really good job and we are very happy with the outcome. They cleaned up really well after completing the job. We will be hiring them for future jobs!

Joe and Stacey made this a very pleasurable experience. From the very first time we spoke on the phone, they were upfront, honest, reasonable, professional and understanding. The crew was amazing. I can't say anything more than that...simply amazing! I have seen roofs get installed, much smaller than this, and they weren't done that fast and that good. The roof looks amazing. It looks different depending on the sunlight. It's pretty awesome. We definitely have the nicest looking roof in the neighborhood. I recommend them for any new roof installation.

We needed a new fan installed in our guest bathroom and contacted Premier Resources. Chris Plevniack and his father came out to the house the next day to assess our situation. After going into the attic, they found a number of issues that needed to be addressed. Chris showed us photos he’d taken with his phone in the attic---neither of the two bathroom fans were actually discharging outside—they were spewing humidity into the attic! In addition, there was an area of mold brewing. Needless to say this became a bigger project than we’d intended but we are very happy with the results. Chris was super responsive (by email and texting, which I really appreciated). And they were able to accommodate our need to get this work done prior to a guest coming to visit. Chris and his dad were really careful not to track any dirt into the house—they put plastic and tarps on all the carpeted and hard floor areas they would be traveling. And they cleaned up so that it was hard to tell they’d even been here! Chris kept us regularly informed of the progress during the 2+ days of work. He also gave us some good advice about other areas we might need to attend to in the future. It was easy to tell that these two guys were perfectionists and did things the right way—metal ducts instead of the flexible kind (with double insulation), venting directly out of the roof instead of through the soffits, repositioning of the fans, cleaning off the mold and sealing the wood, etc. We were also impressed with the final patching job on the textured ceiling of both bathrooms—Chris’ dad did a fantastic job. We would highly recommend Premier to anyone considering any remodeling—they are pleasant, responsive, reliable and they’ll do the job right!

J Blank Construction

    About

What are the ugly, dark spots on my roof? Any black stains on your fiberglass shingles are probably caused by Gloeocapsa magma. More commonly known as roof algae, this cyanobacteria feeds on moisture and the limestone fillers in shingles. Once the black stains become noticeable, they will continue to worsen. This is harmful to your roof because the growth holds moisture in the shingles, which in turn causes premature aging, rotting, and granule loss. Could these stains could be costing me money? Besides reducing your home's curb appeal, these stains could be cost you money! If your roof has algae, studies indicate that the temperatures under your roof become higher, increasing your monthly air conditioning costs and possibly even shortening the lifespan of your air conditioning unit. Also, the same studies suggest that the lifespan of your roof is shortened by the increased granule loss, resulting in premature roof replacement. How do you clean my roof? 1.We take precautions to protect your landscaping and property. 2.We inspect your roof for damage and potential leaks. 3.As a free service we clean gutters before any chemicals are applied. 4.We apply manufacture-recommended chemicals with low pressure, letting the chemicals sit a predetermined amount of time. 5.We lightly rinse and reapply chemicals if necessary. What makes J. Blank Construction unique? I am a professional roofer, with more than 16 years of experience. I carefully inspect every roof and inform you of its condition and potential problems. We do not use a high pressure washer on your roof, as this could cause excess granule loss.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
