This is a great family design company that earns 6 stars if I had my way. I have worked with many designers over the years but none pack the creativity, spark, "know how" like this team of friendly and helpful people. I needed a brand makeover with a new logo, web site, and business cards that was clean, easy to read, modern, and tells my story. I am proud to hand out my business cards and invite others to see and experience my site. I highly encourage you to use them. Their work will separate you from others and you the competitive edge without emptying out your wallet.

MaryZDesigns is a Great Design Shop! They're great at listening to what your ideas are, but just as good when it comes to offering up ideas of their own that may not have been considered. MaryZ designed a banner for me that my kid used to WIN his Middle School Student Council Campaign for Vice President! My son stated that it was A Huge Hit and he showed me numerous posts on social media that friends and even folks he did not know had posted stating how cool and different the banner was!! My family and I were extremely pleased with pricing, turnaround of designs, and the overall experience! MaryZDesigns is a great design shop with a bright future and we would not hesitate to recommend their services!!

Alex with Boathouse Web Design created a beautiful counseling website for my office. His prices were more affordable than a lot of other companies in Harrisburg. But, the site was one of the best counseling sites I’ve ever seen. I also appreciated that he showed me how to edit the site myself instead of nickel and diming me for edits in the future. Can’t reccomend enough!!

I would have to rate this company & Eric as excellent. It is so difficult these days, to get companies to meet your expectations, let alone meet them but GS Flook did just that. This cabinet build was really a small project so I wasn't sure GSF would even be interested. But Eric came to the house, we discussed what I wanted in a design, & he even worked with me on material choices, to get the cost in line. The finished cabinet is beautiful, exactly what I wanted, taking an empty wall, filling the space & giving us much needed storage. Hope we can work together again, Thank you Gene Bell Camp Hill, PA

I did use Mccullough media for a new business start up. Dave McCullough was absolutely phenomenal regarding our website design. He was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional every step of the way. He was easily accessible, and was able to communicate well with my entire staff. He was very innovative and assisted us greatly regarding Ideas and going through the computer maze Including website design, Google search engine etc. He was willing to come out to the venue to see what we were doing and what we were trying to envision. He also incorporated outside professional help regarding drone photography and other issues. I highly recommend Mr. David McCullough and McCullough media for all of your website and computer/corporate design work. Sincerely, Dr. Larry Cox From Whispering Pines Estates and Cox Events Inc

I have worked with theWebProjects to design clients' websites and my own. No one-size-fits-all templates or themes here! Their custom work is fresh, responsive to clients' needs, the demands of the web and ever-changing SEO. Fast work, reliable service, and ongoing support make theWebProject a designer I return to regularly.

For the past three years Barbara has designed, and printed the directory of the 300 member Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association. This is distributed to the members, a group of professional writers, photographers, artists, broadcasters, telecasters, lecturers, and other persons dedicated to informing the public concerning the wise use and management of natural resources. The directory is a 34 page book which includes photos, art work, and printed information about the members and different programs. She has also designed many posters and flyers for the Schuylkill County Sportsmen Association's activities for area youth and women. These posters and flyers are both eye catching and informative and the response from them has been exceptional.

Came up with a design to help sell tshirts and donate the proceeds to a foundation to aid in research and raise awarness. Came out beautifully and she also explained how to do things on the computer to help me save the design correctly and find it. Delivered the design on time when she said she would and very creative.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

      What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

      • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
      • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
      • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
      • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

      • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
      • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
      • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
