I would highly recommend Crownwood for any of your cabinet needs. Andrew listened to what we wanted and delivered the most beautiful cabinets. He worked with our contractors and the cabinets were installed when he said they would be.

We were lucky to have Gary in our area for years. He did extensive work on our house from tile work, cabinet installation, plumbing, electric and custom woodwork. Gary's woodwork/ cabinetry skills are outstanding -- he built a lovely trim around a large opening from our living room to dining room, perfectly installed cabinets in our kitchen, and fitted an intricate moulding around our kitchen cabinets. Gary also worked on many other projects and repairs. He is trustworthy, very amicable, skilled, focused on customer satisfaction and fair in his pricing. Unfortunately for us, he moved away from our area.

I would have to rate this company & Eric as excellent. It is so difficult these days, to get companies to meet your expectations, let alone meet them but GS Flook did just that. This cabinet build was really a small project so I wasn't sure GSF would even be interested. But Eric came to the house, we discussed what I wanted in a design, & he even worked with me on material choices, to get the cost in line. The finished cabinet is beautiful, exactly what I wanted, taking an empty wall, filling the space & giving us much needed storage. Hope we can work together again, Thank you Gene Bell Camp Hill, PA

In late 20015, Michael Toth designed and built in, for us, an approx. 12 ft. Wide x 10 ft. tall mixed use/entertainment center/ lighted wooden cabinet for our main living area. He incorporated bookshelves, and lighted areas for display of objets d'art, as well as place for Bose sound system and large screen TV. His design combined contemporary style with small Chippendale flourishes, and has been a delight since the day he, himself, fully installed it. He incorporated all electric/lighting in hidden spaces, additionally thought through possible future TV size/electronic needs (We have 66" TV now, but cabinet can adjust easily for larger screen, in future) allowing for those adjustments in the future, if needed. Michael is a true professional, and a detail oriented craftsman, who listens carefully to his clients, and ensures they are as involved as they would like to be in providing input to his design and building. We would definitely unclude him imall future building projects!

After getting three estimates to have my kitchen cabinets redoored, I decided to go with Kitchen Tune-Up as they had the most reasonable price. Before I signed the contract, Markus had a small sample made of the style I had chosen along with the stain that would match any wood not covered by the new cabinets. Needless to say, I was very impressed by this and did not hesitate to sign the contract. I was pleased with the suggestions Markus gave me in planning the project as well. The installers took their time in putting on the 28 cabinet doors and the 6 drawer facings. As the installers worked, I realized that living in a mobile home made the work challenging as the areas worked on were not the most level. After two days, the job was completed. I love the look the new doors give to my home. I had minor trouble with two of the doors afterwards. It was such a relief not to have to worry as the problems were fixed in no time. Dealing with a company you can count on like Kitchen Tune-Up is so important to me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Chris was pleasant, professional and willing to give his design thoughts. We gave him the difficult task of matching a relatively unusual cabinet color and he created doors with an excellent match and quality. I would definitely hire him again to make custom cabinets.

We hired George Platt for two large furniture jobs, both of which were handled beautifully and on time (and within our predetermined budget as well). The first job was an incredible all-white high gloss bathroom vanity and built in cabinets for our new master bath. George was able to complete it very quickly (as well as change it slightly on the fly when we altered the designs slightly) which allowed our contractor to perfectly install the vanity in short order. There were no issues whatsoever and we couldn't have been more happy with his work. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the bathroom and we are very glad we had George make it for us. His second job was a truly "wow" dining room table and living room bar for us - both for entertaining purposes. The dining room table is made out of African bubinga with gorgeous inlays and live edges on both sides. Each time we have friends and family over they ooh and ahh over it and can't believe we were able to have it built custom for us. The same goes for a 6ft long, 4ft high African Zebra Wood bar with three shelves in each of the three individual cabinets. George doesn't use veneer (which can actually be tough to get into an apt given the weight) and again, the quality of the work and craftsmanship shows on each of his pieces. George's work is reasonably priced for the best quality work we've experienced in terms of handcrafted furniture. As his work is so great, we can't wait to hire him for future projects.

Aston Black did a wonderful kitchen remodel for us in 2008. We were so impressed we called Mark back when we decided, 4 years later, to double the size of the kitchen and get a true professional-style, gorgeous, functional kitchen. That was 2 years ago and our kitchen is a cook's dream. After 2 years of heavy duty cooking and entertaining I heartily recommend Aston Black Cabinets and Mark Black!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

    How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
