I had an external drive fail, full of precious, but not urgent content. In this situation, I'd never care to spend near-thousands for catastrophic/heroic data recovery. I only wanted to spend up to a very finite dollar amount to take modest steps.
Only a small part of what was on that drive was precious, hence the margins of interest/expense.
I put a work-request up through ThumbTack, and SPpcR / Matt was the only person that fit my particular needs.
Matt was very clear and communicative about the options, odds, and prices of the work they could provide for me.
Matt made a house call, was a pleasure to help.
In the middle of the "free-evaluation", we actually figured out a better way to get the "precious" stuff of of another drive (from a previous machine), that would be easier to recover than the one I called SPpcR for.
Matt is incredibly patient, flexible, and helpful during the free evaluation.
I have never known another computer business to take such a personal, open-ended approach without charging huge fees up front.
S.P.pc.R. is a very talented, generous and attentive business to work with.
It's a shame to think people would not play fair and satisfactory with such a professional.
I highly recommend these services, and they'll be my first to call in the (unfortunate) case they're needed again.
