Joe is amazing!! My boyfriend and I have had a couple lessons with him, and, in one word, spectacular! Not only does his record speak for itself, but after just one class I can vouch that his techniques are top-notch. After only two classes, I already feel slightly more comfortable singing. For someone who’s extremely shy singing around other people, this is a genuine feat. I was genuinely worried I would choke up and couldn’t continue taking lessons out of fear of singing around a stranger, but Joe’s jokes and calming nature really makes you feel comfortable. He’s a funny and creative instructor who teaches you the foundations of singing to create a powerful singing voice that will stay with you for the rest of your life. I’m excited to continue lessons with him. Seriously, if you have any inklings to sing, contact Joe. Honestly, one of the things I look forward to in my week.
I am a colleague of Jen Vanella. I taught voice and piano lessons in the Pittsburgh area for a little over six years before moving to New York City. Jen is currently my top recommendation for any students located in the city of Pittsburgh. I know her to big a kind and generous spirit. She takes the art of teaching very seriously, and makes it a point to differentiate her lessons to suit the unique needs of each student. I find her to be a colleague that is generous with her knowledge and praise. She is sure to promote healthy, balanced music making in all she encounters. I highly recommend her services!
It was great working with Beverly for several years. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share and her passion is motivating and inspiring. I highly recommend her for voice lessons for anyone, beginner through advanced.
Both of my children love taking lessons at Sunburst. The instructors are friendly and very kid focused.
Dan is a wonderful teacher. He has been teaching my teenage daughter for almost a year now. Her self confidence has improved and so has her voice. Dan is patient and kind but tough in a good way that pushes my daughter to the next level. I would recommend Dan to anyone interested in professional singing lessons. We would go no where else. Thanks Dan ,Jeanette
I have been taking lessons with Melody for almost 5 years now, and I can't even begin to describe how thankful I am for her. She has helped me in so many ways and is truly one of the most amazing people I've ever met. If you decide to take up lessons with Melody or plan your party age Sing Sing Sing!, you won't regret it! Amazing talent and great personalities from Melody and Jackie❤
We love Jean and New Song. My daughter is 8 and just starting singing lessons and Jean has been wonderful. I can't say enough good things about her and about the school. It's fun and casual but my daughter is learning a lot. Perfect!
I LOVE Hilerie, both as a friend and a coach. I was reluctant to start taking lessons in my mid-50s because I was convinced that nothing could be done to improve my aging voice, especially since I had never before considered proper singing techniques. Boy, was I wrong! Since I started working with Hilerie, my band-mates have commented on my progress. My toughest critic - my wife - has noticed, too. Im more comfortable performing on stage and my stamina has improved tremendously. Hilerie is patient, encouraging, and most of all, she knows her business. Her bright personality, sharp wit and delightful sense of humor all help to make lessons an enjoyable experience. I would very highly recommend her to anyone - at any age - who is interested in improving his or her confidence and singing voice.
My daughter, who is 11 yrs old, is very comfortable with Kelly. She is not only teaching her how to use her voice but also how to express herself through her emotions and reactions to the music and words. She brings a theatrical edge to the lesson and it makes singing that much more fun and engaging for my daughter. In only 3 lessons we can already see such a difference and new level of comfort in her singing.
I began taking lessons with Gail in my late 40's. She helped me with pitch, delivery and phrasing. She even helped me develop my songbook and introduced me to musicians. I am now performing on a regular basis and have cut three CDs! I highly recommend Gail.
Holly is a great vocal teacher. I learned so much from her: how to control my breathing, how to pay attention to my own voice, how to go from my head voice to chest voice, and so much more. I was mediocre at first, but after taking lessons from her I improved drastically in a short amount of time to the point where I was matching pitch with her in a different octave. I highly recommend Holly to anyone; from a clueless beginner to an advanced professional.
I took voice lessons on an impulse somehow thinking that freeing my natural voice may help me to move through other blockages in my life. It was true that I cringed every time I heard my recorded voice. I disliked speaking. Voice lessons therefore seemed like rich ground for healing. Gratefully, I was lead to Wendy. She is an intuitive and observant teacher. She believes in this work, and now I do. After a few months, I have witnessed a greater resonance in my voice. The lessons are deceptively simple. A series of relaxation and visualizations helps the student to observe sound within the body. Sounds simple but it is the students willingness to observe that is so important. I was shocked to learn how I muffled and restrained my voice in so many subtle and not so subtle ways. I am not a singer or actor so voice lessons may sound like an extravagance. I disagree. Voice lessons with Wendy have been a way for me to honor myself by getting out of my way. In terms of self-discovery, voice lessons have been a bargain.
Improve my singing. She is warm and friendly. She is encouraging and talented. I will enjoy working with her.
Aaron has a great resume, I figured he'd be a great musician & would be great with high-level musicians. Our son has had zero formal private lessons and Aaron was GREAT with a beginner too. Looking forward to more lessons!
David is an excellent teacher. He explains everything so you can understand how your voice works and so you can eventually teach yourself. He brings a level of expertise that is unparalleled. He also brings humor which makes it fun to go. He's so patient so I never feel stupid. I've had to cancel so many times because of last minute scheduling conflicts and he has always been accommodating without seeming hassled even though I know it's a hassle when I change my schedule on him. Between violin, piano, drums, and songwriting lessons I've had MANY teachers over the years and David is superb in every way. You just can't go wrong taking from him. I can see myself growing with him for many years to come.
As a voice/piano teacher, I believe that my job is to allow the students to discover their own unique characteristics. I like to teach in an relaxed environment where the student will be able to develop a healthy (learning bad techniques can be harmful to the throat and body) strong techniques. It is important for the students to learn their own bodies and limit, while being taught to use their bodies to help produce beautiful singing. Singing is more than just about using their voice and achieving proper technique.. It is equally important to learn the music history, theory, acting, etc. appropriate to the piece they are working on. When everything comes together with proper singing and the correct knowledge, students will be able to perform a piece in an intelligent manner. Finally, something I have learned from my previous teachers, it is important to go beyond being just a teacher, and become a role-model and a mentor to my students.
We go above and beyond expectations in AND out of the studio. The Givi School of Music provides optional performance opportunities throughout the year.
I teach a proven technique that is hundreds of years old, used by the greatest opera singers in history.
I teach voice lessons to students age 12 and up and beginner piano to children and young adults age 5 and up. The cost is $15 per half-hour lesson, plus lesson materials. I cater to each individual student's needs and teach him/her based on his/her own interests, strengths, and goals. I have a bachelor's degree in music from York College of Pennsylvania with a concentration in voice and a minor in piano. I love what I do and am very passionate about music. If you are interested in signing your child up for lessons or taking lessons yourself, I would love to hear from you! (I do offer a family discount for those with more than one child in my studio).
I teach children and adults guitar, rhythm and lead plus bass guitar. I can also teach some beginner piano and singing lessons.
