Transitioning from a collegiate athlete to a working professional with a desk job took a huge toll on my overall health. It was tough to find the motivation to get to the gym after a long day at work. I started working with Jonas about three years ago and he changed everything. He's an incredible trainer, coach, and person. I highly recommend F.A.M.E. Fitness!

As a career coach, Karen is a great listener and approaches my needs in job searching professionally and kindly. She is on point with my strengths and weaknesses giving me excellent suggestions that I can utilize right away to make me succeed. Karen's interest in my success goes beyond my expectations and makes me want to do more because it's a wonderful gift to have someone "on your side" cheering and working for you to succeed, this is how she made me feel when speaking on the phone. I feel her personal interest that I achieve my goals. I highly recommend Karen as a career coach and hope to continue to work with her in the future. Gigi

Motivating, Knowledgeable, Caring, Supportive, and Wonderful.. are just a few words I would use to describe Steve! He has become not only my trainer, but my support, coach, and most importantly, my friend. After years of battling a severe eating disorder, I finally had reached a point about a year ago, that I wanted to finally build my strength, health, and my desire to LIVE. I wanted to do it for ME. I cannot begin to explain how much Steve has helped me over this past year and I am beyond impressed by his services. I feel like a power house now, ready to take on whatever he has planned for each session!! A year ago: Unable to do a single push-up. As of today: 40!! Years of slowly deteriorating my health and body are slowly being turned around and it feels better than ever. I recommend Steve to anyone- looking for balance, a push towards health and strength, or just looking to continue a fitness journey! He truly is wonderful! Thanks for all your advice, motivation and continued support Steve. -Stacey Adam- Shoemakersville, PA

I found Lisa through her website after quite a bit of searching. I knew what I wanted to accomplish; I just didn't know how to get it done. Nutritional advice, personal training, and motivation is what I was searching for and exactly what I found in Lisa! She is encouraging, upbeat, and always focused on my development. The workouts are fun, varied and always challenging. As I have made lifestyle changes toward being healthier - I feel that I have a true partner in Lisa. She has worked with me on so many different muscle groups and overall cardio fitness my health, body and spirit are all stronger. Each time we go through something new she demonstrates just what a strong and effective teacher she is both my modeling the exercise and patiently giving feedback until my form improves. She is such a strong teacher that many of the exercises she has taught me I now can do at home. Lisa has a variety of videos that she has available for those in-between work outs along with those times I can't make my twice weekly workouts. Simply put - a joy to work with and a complete health coach. I feel nothing less than grateful to have found her.

Nekeidra was amazing to work with. She helped update my resume, explaining the different formats required for online applications vs. email applications. She also coached me on tailoring my resume for each and every different job I applied for. She was supportive and helped me through my entire search process. I truly enjoyed working with her!

Vandana is an excellent coach for yoga. She is patient and slowly helps you build your tolerance for more difficult exercises. I like her style of teaching and will continue to be in her class. She does mix other forms of exercise besides yoga and it helps burn more calories. I highly recommend her as a coach.

I sought out a coach because I was looking for guidance on ways to improve my career. I was experiencing a lack of fulfillment and needed help defining my professional goals and strategies for achieving them. Chris and I were able to set up our first meeting within one week of our initial call which I appreciated. We have had two meetings so far, and I can tell already that he is very astute. He helped me define my core challenges and goals within the first hour and we're already working on a plan for moving forward. He is personable and very encouraging. I would absolutely recommend him.

Katrina is an excellent life coach. She pays special attention to what your individual goals, and works to formulate a plan best-fit for your life. From my experience she had a deep understanding of the power of the mind, and was able to explain in simple terms how to overcome mental blocks and get the most out of life and your personal experience. Attaining my goals seemed to become a much simpler and less daunting task after having worked with Katrina.

Kathie was my Health Coach in the summer and fall of 2017. Early on, she asked questions about what was going great in my life and what I wanted to improve. Kathie then worked with me to set realistic goals for myself. Each week during our coaching session, she had a well thought out approach to discussing my progress and coaching me to learn the importance of positive self talk and personal encouragement. In just 90 days time, I achieved a significant amount of progress towards my goals and I loved Kathie’s coaching style! Caryn

My experience with Christi has been excellent. I've decided to move on to something new, professionally, without really knowing what I wanted that to look like. Christi asked some great questions, provided some really useful feedback, and right from the start took a very personal interest in helping me navigate this decision successfully. Our sessions have been really helpful and also inspiring, in that it's pretty clear Christi has navigated this change herself, and found something she's really meant to do. This is still a work in progress for me and I feel like our conversations have yielded perspectives and decisions that are going to stick with me for a long time. This was my first coaching experience and it's gone well beyond what I had hoped to get out of it. I also found it very easy to do this remotely, over the phone — it was as effective as (and maybe a little more convenient than) in-person meetings.

The results of this mental "reset" were noticeable almost immediately and I continue to improve even after the program has ended. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

    • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
    • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
    • Defining your career goals
    • Creating a plan for job searching
    • Improving networking strategies and skills
    • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
    • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
    • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

    Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

    • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
    • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
    • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
    • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
    • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
    • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
    • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

    What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
