I am highly satisfied with the work that was done on my Samsung television. He diagnosed the problem and took the tv to his shop. I had it back the next day. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs a flat screen tv repair. It is definitely cheaper than buying a new tv! The repairman was very engaged in making sure that the work was done in a timely fashion.

Mike has been to my home several times and has been amazing. First I needed a larger breaker box. Mike found one and I did not have to increase the voltage. He installed exterior outlets mounted lights and my TV on my fire place. I still have more things that need to be done and will be using mike for all them.

Nick was phenomenal. He came out on Sunday morning (yeah, Sunday) 10 sharp to mount my 40" flat screen. Complete professional but easygoing and friendly...and he didn't mind me hovering while he worked. I highly recommend.

David Chan, from the Advanced Home Automation, Inc., removed a broken flat screen TV from from the family room at my house. He installed a new flat screen TV in the same room. Mr. Chan is very professional and knowledgeable about what he is doing. He was quick with the installation and did not leave a mess. He also removed the broken TV from the house. I definitely would use him and his company again.

I have 2 flat screen tvs mounted. 1 in the living room. 1 in my office. I am elated!! Vernon installed both tvs. He was thrown some curveballs (because the way the structure was built) but he handled them with ease and the job turned out great. I would DEFINITELY have him hang more. I'm a very happy customer.

I had Irish Installations install a large screen tv for me and it was done very professionally and courteously. The best part was the complicated programming of the Harmony remote which I was clueless about! Matthew did a fantastic job with this and made my life a whole lot easier in the process! I would definitely recommend him for your home installation. With his past experience, he is perfect for this.

Had a flooring job done for my kitchen. I had very old vinyl replaced with multi colored natural slate. It took approximately 4 days to complete. Mike and Eric did a great job and were punctual. They also disposed of all my old flooring and cleaned up well when they left. They were very thorough and made adjustments as they went. They also tiled all the way behind the appliances, which no other contractor was planning to do. Price was reasonable and did not change even though the job got more and more envolved because the old flooring took longer to remove than expected. Mike was very detail orientated and made sure the job was done. I would do business with again.

I hired Eric to replace the tile in my shower floor and three tiles on my backsplash, and ended up having him repair my porch, replace the basement floor, repair window screens, cut several needed access panels in walls, install a backflow valve, and a few other odd projects. He and his worker show up, work hard, and thoughtfully consider each project. Once we sell this house we look forward to hiring him again for projects on our next home.

Gerry wall mounted two flat screen TVs at my house. He also wall mounted a A/V cabinet under the TV in the living room. Wires to both TVs were hidden along the wall with cord covers. The job ran into a few glitches on his end and took him longer than expected. Through the entire job Gerry remained cheerful and completed the project leaving me very satisfied. I would not hesitate to use him again in the future.

Jason wall mounted my flatscreen, installed a retractable screen for my projector (he mounted that too), and he hid my speakers in wires like a magician. I was very pleased with his work quality, speed, and pricing. I'd recommend him without question. Trevor

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What should you do with a broken LCD TV?

Nationally, the average price range for TV repair is $60-$90. LCD TV repairs are one of the most common TV repair requests. A liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses the same technology as your smartphone and most computer screens. Images are created on an LCD screen by electric currents that pass or block light through liquid crystals that are encased between two polarized, glass-like sheets. LCD TVs can be very thin and are relatively affordable, making them one of the most prevalent types of TV on the market. If you have a broken LCD TV, it can probably be repaired. Common problems that can be repaired include a blank screen, sound issues, power problems and digital connection problems. Here is one example of LCD TV repair cost:

  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair: $150, including parts and labor
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. The main circuit board was removed and replaced.

Can you fix a flat screen TV?

Yes, you can usually fix a flat screen TV. Whether you have a plasma, LED, OLED, HDR, HD or even LCD, TV repair pros can repair your TV. Flat screen TVs are expensive, and when they stop working it can make your heart stop. But TV repair technicians have advanced along with TV technology and are equipped with the proper tools and training for major and minor repairs. If your flat screen is too massive to transport, most repair companies have pickup and drop-off service. For the most common problems, TV repair pricing might range between $175 and $200 on average. Here are examples of the most common problems:

  • Power problems: The TV won’t turn on or will not stay on once started.
  • Digital problems: All connections are in place but you’re not receiving any signal.
  • Sound problems: There is no sound, the volume doesn’t respond to attempts to raise or lower it, or the volume is inconsistent.
  • Screen problems: The TV is on but there is no picture.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
