Living in this area of southwestern Pennsylvania there's a lot to compete with when it comes to dance studios and the reason I feel my service stands out is that I am not the typical dance studio that requires costumes and pictures fees, it's just truly a place for students both children and adults to have a dance experience that is tailored to their needs and wants. There's no long term commitments, as there would be if you signed up for a dance studio. I have dance my whole life from a little girl and as an adult. I have a BFA in Dance Education, Professional experience, & Teaching experience on all levels and variety of styles. Dance is my Passion, so I enjoy all aspects. When you find that craft that truly speaks to your soul, that gives you a sense of freedom and individuality there's nothing like it! What I truly enjoy is getting to know my students and it makes my heart full is being able to teach them and watch them blossom on a level that creates the same feeling I have for dance!See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do you wear to swing dance lessons?

Swing dance is an increasingly popular style of ballroom dance with a dress code that reflects its roots in the 1920s-1940s jazz era. Although many studios don’t require historically accurate costumes for their private dance lessons, many dancers want to dress the part. You can wear clothes that are comfortable to move — and sweat — in, such as T-shirts and loose skirts or khakis. Or for an appropriately vintage look, women often wear shirt dresses with a knee-length A-line or circle skirt that allows for plenty of swishy movement. Men usually opt for a button-down shirt and trousers. The most important part of a swing dance outfit is the shoes. Both men and women can opt for simple sneakers, like Keds, or leather dance shoes, such as saddle shoes. Until you have several dance lessons under your belt, stay away from heels.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
