These folks are much more productive than other people I have worked with. I had a very large oak tree (100+ yrs old with 13 ft circumference) and a crew of four people started 7:30 AM and finished everything at 4:30. It was very tall tree with 10-15 branches. They came few days later for stump grinding. I would recommend them for anyone who is looking to get their tree work done. Price was reasonable too.

I hired Aplus Tree Services to prune a large pine tree in my backyard. They did excellent work and I will definitely hire again for all my future tree needs. The process from receiving the initial quote to scheduling the work was easy. They were able to come out within a couple days of the quote. They communicated well throughout the entire process and did a super job!

Eric was professional and prompt with providing a quote and then completing the job. He created a beautiful bed on my front lawn using some existing shrubs and trees I already had to tie everything together. He edged all of my flower beds and property, it looks fantastic. He also suggested moving some perennials in my garden which were suffering due to their location. Overall, I am very pleased with Eric's work, I would recommend him.

This has to be one of the best hiring experience I have ever had. Flori and his crew are EXTREMELY polite, hard working, neat and one of the most professions working crews I have ever met. They had a lot of brush , trees, and yard waste to clear out of the perimeter of my yard. They did an outstanding job that now allows us to start landscaping it they way we would have designed.Hire Flori you will not be disappointed.

I had 5 pine trees removed and another 10 trimmed. Green World Landscaping did exactly what I asked. JR climbed each tree as I had no access for a bucket truck. I've already contacted him for another full day of work.

We had a great time with Princeton Tree. The neighbors even raved about how great of a job they did. We had a larger 60'+ old silver maple that was dying and rotting and had to be taken down. Princeton came in and handled the job and even protected our grass from being completely ruined by their machinery. We'd recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone! Thanks!!

Chris did an awesome job. Our tree branches no longer overhang our house and the neighbors tree branches and vines no longer prevent sun from getting to our garden, nor are choking our small trees in our backyard. He was on time, efficient, clean-up thorough, and was very reasonably priced. Great job. Recommended to neighbors.

Arbor CPR was great. Hired them to removed 2 huge holly bushes (trees?) They came within a couple days of me reaching out. Notified me that he was running an hr late but I didn’t mind. Ended up charging us less than the original estimate even though we added something for him to do. He said removal was easier than he anticipated! Now, that is an honorable person. He didn’t have to tell us that and charged what he quoted plus more for the extra we asked for! And he also moved and cut some branches we have in a pile in our yard from the last storm...just to be nice. I definitely recommend Arbor CPR!

David and his team were awesome. He got back to me quickly after my initial call, and on the day of service he and his crew did a great job removing a handful of large oaks from our yard. The service was great and they left the work site cleaner than they found it. Very impressed and would work with them again.

Bob and his crew did a great job taking down 10 large trees on the property. They were in the woods and very large trees that were not easy to remove. Minimal damage to the lawn and shrubs. Would recommend

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
