My son, Elijah, has been taking guitar lessons from Mike for a few years now, and has learned so much! He LOVES "Mr. Mike"! Candidly, in the beginning, I tried to teach Elijah. But, I learned quickly that it takes great patience to teach guitar, and sometimes it's better to let someone other than "Dad" teach the child. :) Well, as it turns out, Mike is overflowing with patience, and he has made learning fun for Elijah! He truly has been a blessing to us. He's an amazing guitar player, a great guitar teacher, and a wonderful human being.
I met David at an open mic in Columbia and knew immediately that I wanted to work with him musically. He picks the guitar like no one I've met, and can harmonize vocally with just about anything (including Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers, impressive). I invited him to play with me for two of my solo gigs and it went phenomenally. I sent him a few songs from my set list the night before and the rest he was able to freestyle play to. Could not have asked for better music or a better person to play with.
I have been playing guitar for over four years and have taught two other people how to play in my spare time. My lessons are only for beginners who want to gain a basic understanding in guitar. I teach mostly general knowledge and learning of songs, not so much with musical theory, but I am also learning how to play solo to different types of chords. All are done for a cheap price. I just want to have fun and jam with new comers.
I am currently a doctoral bass performance major at University of Southern California, and I also teach at Newberry College. I have experience teaching and playing classical, rock, jazz, blues, and bluegrass on both electric and upright bass.
