The Bellamy team were professional, work quickly and efficiently. They moved large furniture pieces and 3 whole bedrooms sets, couches, patio furniture without a problem. They took apart beds and set them back up at our new home. They took away mattresses and tables we no longer needed. I can not say enough good things about this team!! My family and I are so grateful to have found these guys, they made our overwhelming move seem seamless! Thank you Team Bellamy!!!

Martin & Maria Cordero are an extremely hardworking couple who work together as a team & did a fantastic job with projects in our home. We originally planned on having only our windows & skylights cleaned, but after seeing the excellent, meticulous work they did we extended the job to include power washing our house, as well as the driveway & side walk areas. Excellent work. We have hired many cleaning companies over the years & Makroclean is by far the VERY BEST. Our neighbor was so impressed with their work ethic that he too, hired them on the spot to do work on his home. We highly recommend this honest, hardworking couple & will absolutely be using them for other cleaning projects in the future.

Just finished having MD Roofing put a new roof on my home. I have a two-story home with an extremely steep roof pitch and the MD Roofing crew took it all in stride. The owners are very professional and knowledgeable. My next-door neighbor was so impressed they got their roof replaced by MD Roofing right after mine was done. Quality work at a great price. If you need a new roof, you can't go wrong with MD Roofing!

I contacted homeWORKS with a project that needed to be completed within a quick turnaround window. They rearranged their schedule to accommodate my request and did an excellent job throughout each step of the process. Very proactive communication was provided during each phase and they followed up after to ensure I was happy with the quality of work. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a residential or commercial project completed and will be using them again on a regular basis myself.

Scott came in and provided an estimate to install 14 - "6 Pannel Interior Doors" in my house in North Myrtle Beach. The product arrived, Scott was there to receive it and the following 2 day had a crew in my home ripping out the old and replacing with new. The house is 40 years old, and it took quite a bit of effort for Scott but in the end they were installed, paint ready and I couldn't be happier. I will ask Scott to be involved in future projects because of his work ethic, the believable cost estimates and his trustworthiness on the job and with my property. Thanks Scott, great Job Ross Price

Shane, Tony, and Todd did a great job on the large oak tree over my house and pool. He provided an estimate on Saturday, and then had the work done on Sunday. I was impressed with how every branch was cut and dropped to the ground without damaging the house or the pool. Shane said it would take 3 hours, it took 2 and a half hours and then some clean-up time. They did what the said they would do and all within the cost estimated. I would recommend them to anyone.

To start, I would just like to inform you that I never write reviews but, this one was a must! My husband and I had just purchased a new home 6 months ago. Come winter time, our heating system broke and I called a local HVAC service (85$) who didn't bother to fix the unit but, instead tried to sell us a new one. I never called them back due to them trying to swindle me into thousands of dollars and not even bothering to diagnose the issue. I turned around and called our home buyers warranty service to send another service out. They came to our home and told me to take out all my in-floor vent filters to release the pressure build up and that should fix the problem (75$ Service fee) . Days later, with cold air still blowing out from the vents, I called our home buyers insurance again and had them send the same guy back. Again he came out and attempted to fix the problem and twiddled around with the unit (let out what he claimed to be excess frion causing the problem). Three days later and aggravated with my unresolved cold air blowing heater I called our home buyers again. This time I asked for them to send a different repair service to come out. Mark Pontillo, owner and operator of Ponillo Home Service, called me a hour later and set up an appointment for the very next morning. The next day Mr. Pontillo thoroughly investigated our system (inside and out for hours) and afterwards took me step by step in explaining all the issues he came across. He went behind the other service men who left loose wiring and tightened everything back up. He explained what needed to be done and with my approval he ordered the faulty TX valve that he came across which was the source of our problem. It took a while for the part to ship and he kept me updated via phone calls on the order reassuring me he had not forgotten about me. When the part arrived Mr. Pontillo was here the very next morning to replace it. After the replacement, he had me check to make sure everything was working up to my satisfaction and even stayed longer to make sure the system wouldn't fail. While waiting, he took the time to wash our heater of all the grim and corroded material inside that had built up over the years. Then he took me out to show me all the debris that had washed away and show me the insides of our corroded outdoor units and how bad they were rotting from the salty air. Clearly, and with my own eyes, I could tell the 2 units had not been serviced since they were installed. I had been ignorant to the fact of servicing units every year myself. Mark went through all the details of what his yearly service consisted of and gave me a VERY reasonable estimate. I was happy to purchase his yearly service and he took the time out to clean the other upstairs unit as well. Since that day Mr. Pontillo has come back to check on my heating system and has called to make sure it was working properly. The home buyers insurance covered all the cost and we didn't have to pay a dime for it. I later learned he specialized in other areas of home services as well, like bath and kitchen remodeling as well as any handyman work. Since then, I have had Mark come back on several occasions to fix broken land scape lighting, faulty shower doors, electrical issues, broken grout, etc. If it's broken.. Let's just say HE can FIX it! I have never been so happy to have found someone so dependable, trustworthy and for the best reasonable prices. If you ever find your self with a broken HVAC system he is the man to call!!! You will NOT be swindled and will get the best quality of service that is out there. In the future, I will be using Mr. Mark Pontillo for all of our home repairs. - Laura K.

The job was replacing a window and fixing some cracks throughout the house caused from settling. The house was built in the 50's so we had the old swing out windows, which had to be totally removed and new put in. The work was the best I could of asked for, would definitely use him again.

What a fantastic experience! Professional, showed up when he said we would and called prior to arriving. The workmanship was detailed, cleaned up after the project. I had three projects one was garage cabinets, retro canned lights and replace a front door lock. When he replaced the door lock the footprint did not match up to the old one he took the extra time to locate my door paint and painted the area. All three projects were done with excellence! Highly recommend.

United Contractors did an excellent job repairing my roof leak. Ronald Lamy followed up promptly to my phone inquiry on Friday. By Sunday afternoon my roof was repaired. Before the work was done I was shown, via camera, where the leak issue was. After the work was completed I was shown the follow-up pictures. The work was done quickly and neatly. We need more service companies like this in Myrtle Beach. I would not hesitate to call on United Contractors again for help. Sincerely, Debbie Catley

I had a near perfect experience. Nick called back quickly, showed up on time, did beautiful work exactly as promised and cleaned up well. He built an outdoor enclosed shower, installed light fixtures, ceiling fans, recessed lighting and a range hood and replaced all my switches. His prices were very good and I couldn't be happier. He will be my 'go to' for anything related to my home improvements or renovations.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
