Joel did a great job with our rescue pug and I would hire him again. In just 6 short 20-30 minute sessions, he provided general obedience training and our dog has been very well behaved since then. He is efficient with his time, sticking to the dog's attention span of 20-30 minutes, and provides positive reinforcement, thus avoiding the things like choke or shock collars. He also provided guidance to my family on what we should or shouldn't do. Joel was very affordable compared to the various options out there but I felt like we sacrificed nothing. Lessons were private and in my house or neighborhood. Quality was excellent and you can tell Joel cares about you individually and not as just another client. He also follows up after the sessions are done to check in and make sure all is okay. Top notch!
Carol Lynne is lovely, experienced and my Beaux really seems to enjoy his lessons. I chose Carol Lynn because of her certifications and the ability to teach my dog basic training and get him ready for therapy dog work. I recommend her highly.
We have had only one session with Lena and have already seen amazing results with our 1 y.o. dog. Lena gives hands-on training to you and your dog. We are training our pup to be a therapy dog, and he is already well on his way to having the skills needed to pass the test. Well done Lena Skov! Glad we found you on Thumbtack!!!
I could not be more satisfied with Kevin's K-9 Academy. My puppy did a 3 week train and board and wow was it worth every penny! Kevin updated me throughout the training with videos and progress. Kevin followed up to every question I had and I had many. When my puppy came home, Kevin took the time to review the commands and how he worked with my puppy. My puppy is trained with his same personality (which was really important to me). Now that my puppy is back home I can tell how much good the training did him, Kevin was a complete advocate for my puppy and his training. With that said, the training was so amazing I am sending my other dog too! Thank you Kevin, we could not be more pleased and appreciative.
Home Away Pets goes above and beyond to take great care of our two dogs. They are very professional, friendly, and conscientious. Most highly recommended.
We were able to meet with John and discuss all our concerns in person. It was a wonderful easy process.
I cannot recommend Jarod highly enough. The work he put into training my dog was unbelievable and he has absolutely transformed my dog. My fearful, anxiety ridden pup came home confident and obedient and full of life. You WILL NOT find a better or more dedicated trainer.
Jenna is very knowledgeable about dogs, she gave us the advice we needed. She will be training our dog further, very satisfied!
We have loved having Fran help us train our Golden Retriever puppy, Finnegan! We bought the puppy package of 3-4 visits. She is very knowledgeable, personable, flexible and great at what she does! We were going to go to one of the pet stores for puppy training, but read about her services and called her up! We are so glad we did!! It was SO helpful that she came to our house so she could show us in our own surroundings (as opposed to a pet store) the best way to handle our issues with our puppy including walks, issues in the back yard, jumping on people walking in the front door, puppy biting, etc. We definitely recommend her for training your dog!!! :) Thanks, Fran!!! Allison
I am out of town a lot, so Will from Dog Pro services takes care of my dog Bruno. I like that he also trained my dog with basic obedience. Training was easy and it's affordable Will is an awesome guy.
I rescued a 90llb lab mix, Ringo. I believe he is 1-2 years old. Ringo had ZERO leash training when I got him. To my knowledge, he had never been walked on a leash at all. The first few weeks, I had to walk him with a flat collar and a harness that had two leashes connected to both. On our walks, he would put on the brakes, drag me through yards trying to chase squirrels, try to wiggle out of his collar, REFUSE to turn down certain streets - it was really tough. It was also extremely dangerous because I live near very busy roads with a lot of traffic. After just the first week of training, Ringo was noticeably better on his walks and it made our walks SO much more enjoyable. Fast forward to 4 weeks of training, he walks beside me and auto-sits before we cross main road. He no longer rushes in the door knocking me over or when I leave. Instead, he politely sits and waits for me to leave or enter first. Also, he walks very confidently with his head held high and a sashay in his step - its clear he is happier now that he has some structure. About the trainer: he is very knowledgeable and knows A LOT about dog behavior. He spends a lot of time with the dog AND owners answering questions and providing feedback/suggestions on what needs to be worked on. He will explain in detail why/what he is doing. He is extremely trust worthy and very communicative. It's also great to have someone like Paul to call on if I need help with Ringo because his training is for the life time of the dog.
After the passing of our Black lab, last year it was so hard for us to get another dog but we knew we were ready. We seeked out Aaron and he found us the most beautiful chocolate lab puppy!! The kept him for the first few weeks and started him potty training and some basic commands and then they delivered him to us all the way to Virginia from Charlotte!! This company obviously really loves animals and has their best interest at heart. Thank you so much for our good boy!!! He will be continuing his puppy education here soon and we are looking forward to working with them again!
Stacy is an amazing trainer. She really blew me away with how much she knew about dog behavior and training. I was having issues with my dog attacking me when I put her harness on. It was so stressful for me and my dog to the point that I was in tears. I exchanged several emails with Stacy and even before our first session she went out of her way to provided information. She included articles, website links, and videos. After just one session I saw huge inprovements in my dog's behavior. The harness is no longer an issue! Stacy also helped me address the doorbell and guests entering my home, barking, and being defensive over food and the garbage can. I would highly recommend Stacy to anyone in need of a dog trainer.
When I contacted you, you were Leila's my daughter's 3yr old Great Pyrenees/Boarder Collie rescue, last chance. Since moving from a home where she could go in & out on her own & had an invisible fence to a townhouse where she had to be walked on a leash, she had become aggressive to the other family pets, lunged at strange dogs to try to fight, chased skateboarders, bicycles, & motorcycles. My daughter was moving into an apartment that fall & planned to take her when going back to college. I felt Leila was at risk of hurting another animal or person & couldn't risk my daughter taking her unless she changed dramatically. From the very 1st day Karen met Leila, she became a different dog. She not only taught Leila how to be a dog but taught me how to be a proper owner. If Leila had an incident, it was always due to owner error (me). What a major difference you had on our family, working with Leila on triggers, helping her learn to be a dog, & training the owners how to be responsible owners! Leila had always been a loving dog & family member. However, now she was happy! Happy because she knew how to be a dog, how to greet strange dogs, & how to respond to commands. As soon as Karen entered the house, Leila would light up. She ran straight to her, sat in a beautifully attentive stance directly in front of Karen & looked up at her with pure love. Amazing! Additionallt, Karen also worked with my daughter & her boyfriend before the move. After Leila moved in with Audrey, Karen followed up with a comprehensive summary & guidelines for Audrey to ensure Leila didn't backtrack due to the move. Thanks to Karen, I was confident Leila would not hurt a human or pet & felt comfortable sending her off to college with my daughter. I'm happy to report both are doing wonderfully & she's the favorite dog in the complex. Thank you Karen. You saved our family pet & make a special dog & young lady very, very happy!
Wow! its amazing, i loved the way training went. Speaking from my own experience, Sheetal has helped us a lot to communicate with my dog and understand my dog better. Its truly amazing. I have also tried her methods, when done correctly; they work awesome. Earlier my dog was having trouble walking on streets with me, he used to pull me everywhere. Worst to tell he was ignoring what my husband say, but not now, tons of thanks to Sheetal. He is the same dog but improved one. He listens to me and my husband, his excess barking stopped that is just amazing, he will walk with me on streets, people are so amazed with his behavior, now i am proud of my dog. Thanks Sheetal! What you have done, to bring lots of joy to our family.

Carolina Natural Dog is founded on the principles of Natural Dog Training (developed by Kevin Behan). Dogs are social by nature and they react to the world around them according to the laws of nature, not human reason. Working with a dog's energy instead of fighting against it, will allow you and your dog to achieve balance. A fundamental belief of Carolina Natural Dog is that energy is communication in its purest form. By learning to understand your dog's natural energy, you can bring out their true, cooperative and social nature. I have spent years reading, studying and implementing these techniques with my dogs, dogs at local rescues and with my clients. I have seen remarkable changes in the behavior, disposition and tendencies of dogs that were once in the throws of instability and chaos. I have trained and consulted with the leaders of the Natural Dog Training philosophy to gain knowledge from their vast experience and bring it to my life and the lives of my clients here in NC. I want to bring this amazing philosophy to you and to your dog. Together we can discover your dog's true nature.
I train dogs in basic obedience, technique and core training using treat motivation and clicker method.
My unique approach to dog training is not just teaching your dogs mindless tricks, but addressing the dog's state of mind and building their confidence by teaching them life skills and how to live happily by your side. I also teach you how to be a confident and trustworthy leader that your dog will respect and not take advantage of.
