Introduction
My training is extensive (over 600 hours) and was done with Romana Krzyanowska, who herself was trained directly by Joseph Pilates. I take a very personalized approach to my teaching and give each person who walks through my door exactly what their body needs. I have an excellent eye for misalignments in the body and know exactly what to do to correct them. I also have a quiet, private setting free of distractions and others working out around you, so the focus is 100% on you for the whole lesson. I love seeing my clients feel better in their bodies and gain strength and/or flexibility that they didn't think was possible. There is no greater feeling for me as a teacher than to hear someone say as they walk out the door, "I feel 100% better than when I first arrived."

I recently began taking a pilates mat class with Maria Guse, my first introduction to pilates and I have been impressed and surprised by not only what a great work out it is but also by how great it appears to be for not only fitness but for realigning the body. I am recovering from a recent broken foot and was skeptical that I would be able to participate but was assured by Maria that it should not be a problem given the fact that most of the work out is done lying on the mat. Not only has the foot not been a problem, I believe that it has helped with the recuperation of the residual effects of the break and how it affected the rest of my body due to walking with a limp. Maria is also extremely knowledgable, encouraging and patient. I would not exactly call myself athletic but I have no problem keeping up with the rest of the women in the class and I am also pleasantly surprised by how great I feel after the class and how quickly I appear to be getting fit.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I take a weekly lesson from another Romana's Pilates certified instructor and I attend seminars.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started Pilates 12 years ago when my first child was a year old and I was still struggling to lose the baby weight. I was amazed at the transformation of my body in a very short period of time. There is a saying in the Pilates world,"In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you'll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you'll have a whole new body" and I realized that to be more than true. I decided teaching Pilates would combine my passion for the method with my desire to have a profession that would give me the flexibility to work part-time.
