I highly recommend Music City Pet Sitting! I needed a last minute pet sitter because one of my cats suddenly needed medication given every day and we didn't feel comfortable with just anyone looking after them when we went out of town. They did an amazing job and came by the day before I had to leave town for me to sign papers and meet my cats. Danielle was so nice and professional and made me feel very comfortable leaving my cats in the care of her and the other sitters. I love that I received an email every day detailing the visit and confirming my cat got his medication, water was given, food was refreshed, etc. And they added pictures of the cats to these emails! I came home to 2 happy and healthy cats. I will 100% be using MCPS again soon.

I hired Janet to care for our cat, Maggie., while we were out of town 2/12 - 2/19, 2017. Janet came to the house for a meet & greet. I was able to tell immediately that Janet is extremely knowledgeable about cats & has a special gift for interacting with them. I felt very comfortable turning Maggie's care over to Janet. I also liked the fact that caring for pets is Janet's business & she runs it in a professional manner. Maggie is a picky eater & doesn't warm up to strangers very easily. Janet went above & beyond to make friends with Maggie, which led to Maggie eating well while Janet cared for her. Most importantly, Maggie was very happy & content upon our return. (The house was also completely clean & in order)! We enjoyed her thorough updates & photos sent via text message following every visit. Janet has the magic touch with animals & finding her service has been a god-send. I wouldn't consider using any other pet sitting service except Kisses Happen.

I started using Snugglemeisters Pet-Sitting Pros/Bohemian Catsody for catsitting almost a year and a half ago and have had nothing but a great experience. Before, I would board my two cats when I traveled, and the whole boarding experience completely stressed out both of them (and me). Since then, Diane has watched the girls at least half a dozen times, and I was impressed with how quickly they became comfortable around her, as they are usually shy around new people. They even come out to play with her when she visits! Diane is reliable, caring, and very attentive to the pets in her charge. After each visit, she sends me a text, sometimes with a video update, noting how the visit went, which I so appreciate because I have a tendency to obsess over how they are doing when I am not home. I love the online client portal, which allows for easy scheduling and lets me provide notes about trip plans, food and watering instructions, and the cats’ latest favorite hiding spots. I highly recommend Diane and Snugglemeisters for all your catsitting needs!

Charlene (Hotsy) did an amazing job caring for our two large dogs and cat! She also did a great job house sitting and helping with small tasks (watering plants, bringing in the mail, taking out the trash). She sent pics of my fur babies and I know they loved being at home during our 11 day vacation rather than a kennel. I would highly recommend Hotsy!

Tracy took care of our 4 cats and 2 dogs while we were out of town. She took extra time with the fur babies during her visits to make them happy. Every day she sent a text and picture or video to us to let us know how they were doing. I think our fur babies really miss her now that we're back home! I highly recommend Tracy for your pet sitting needs.

I take care of animals! I can walk your pets, make sure they are fed as much as you want them to be, and pet sit overnight, or if you go on a vacation, I can take them to grooming appointments or vet visits. I can do anything else you would like me to do with your animals. I have my own car, so I will come to you.

My husband and I are looking for any kind of odd jobs that you may have. Whether it might be some type of construction or lawn care maintenance, handyman need or some type of help with a pet sitting, dog walking, housecleaning, paying bills for you, shopping or any type of help at all you may need. No job is too big or small.

I have helped numerous families in watching their dogs while they are away on vacation. References are available upon request.

Do you work long hours? Going on vacation or a business trip and seeking an alternative to boarding? I can provide you with honest, dependable and loving care for your furkids while you are away from home

I am willing to pet-sit any type of animal no matter how aggressive. I love all animals. I love some animals even more than I love humans.

I really love animals and children, providing the best care possible, and helping others. I am very responsible, reliable, trustworthy, and positive!

I do doggy walking, pet sitting, pet feeding and giving plenty of exercise. I have my I own doggy, and he is willing to share his mommy with your fur baby.

I do not have a business name, but I love my pets and would love to provide peace of mind to any pet owner. I love pets and enjoy making peoples lives better by not having to care about their pets in their absence. I, myself, have two dogs, two cats and a stray that my daughter brought home. I do not have a website yet but can be reached through phone under Madalin Richards in the phone book.

I actually care about what I'm doing.

I have taken care of dogs for 25 years. I take care of my daughter's home and her dog when she is away.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
