FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have no set pricing system. My prices are determined by lesson length, age range and distance of travel. However, I guarantee my price will never extend above $20 for a half-hour lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely. I myself own several song books from which I occasionally pull selections to push myself as a guitarist. While some of these are for guitar, others yet are for piano and even violin. It is always beneficial to understand the workings of other instruments, so as to gain a more dynamic approach to the instrument of choice. As well, I own books on Jazz, choral music, and take regular exercises from Nicolas Slonimsky's "Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns"
- What types of customers have you worked with?
One of the most specific things I get asked about is how to incorporate theory and expand the use of harmony and chordal structure into writing or playing. These certainly aren't concepts to be tackled by beginners, as they constitute a kind of plateau for most musicians. As with any skill level, though, it simply requires repetition of exercises and a continuous, working knowledge of scale and mode.
