We hired Tim for my grandson's 9th Birthday Party - we live in Chattanooga and Tim came to perform for us over the Memorial Day Weekend! He arrived on time, was very professional, adapted his show for the age group of children and adults :) and did an outstanding job. He kept us all entertained and made a myriad of balloon animals for each child. We would encourage you to hire him for your next party!

My husband and I recently used Derrell for our wedding ceremony and reception music. We chose him after seeing him in action at another wedding and he did not disappoint. We got SO many compliments on his music choices-especially during the reception! We gave him parameters of what we liked and didn't like and he respected that while playing an AWESOME mix that got everyone up and dancing! We could not have asked for anything better. In addition, he was completely professional--he got there early, set up everything on-time, had all the equipment he needed (even a hot spot so he could download any music that was requested that he didn't already have) and he kept the party moving all night. I would 100% recommend him for anyone else who wants a fun wedding reception! I've never had so much fun in my life and his music definitely made the reception.

I have been to several events DJed by Shift Music, and I've even hired Shift to DJ some of my own parties. Josh really caters his music list to the event, rather than making it some show about himself. He plays so many different styles! It's really awesome. The music flows really well, no crazy scratching or anything, just really good mixing. He knows how to read the crowd to get them dancing and having a blast! I always thought of DJs being kind of anti-social, proud techies, but Josh is genuine, intuitive and tactful; qualities that I know I would want in my wedding DJ!

Davis, you did a superb job. You put together a great mix of music so the very young and the not so very young had fun dancing. And the music for the ceremony was beautiful. Everything was right on cue. I will most definitely recommend you highly. Thank you again for helping to create a wonderful memory for my son and his new bride.

The Top Tier Band provided a wonderful variety of music for the Bride and Groom and all our guests! The first dance was amazing along with the daddy/daughter dance. Top Tier was amazing when I requested a special song in rememberance of my sister. They didn't hesitate to fulfil my wish. I was touched by their kindness. My only wish was for the night to last longer so I could "sit" and enjoy the voices of the talented singers and band members! Instead they had me on my feet dancing and singing along. Performing at the Hunter Museum in Chattanooga, TN was a first for the Top Tier Band. I hope they enjoyed the atmosphere and lovely touch of "snow and hail" that blessed Melissa & Santosh along with our guests for their wedding celebration. With sincere appreciation, Lisa & George Brown

Magic Wayne did a great show geared for his audience. We had around 60 people in a long term care facility, celebrating our Mother's 92nd birthday with a St. Patrick's Day theme. His magic tricks were very easy to follow and wowed the group! He also combined jokes and audience participation. The residents there were thrilled with the party and the entertainment. Thank you Magic Wayne for helping us brighten their day.

Rebecca has done private concerts for me in our home for friends and business acquaintances and in private concerts for conferences that I sometime chair. The response is always crazy – – everybody loves her music, loves her voice and loves her skill-set. She is terrific for events of that nature and I am sure others as well.

My wedding was last year and I wanted classical music while I walked down the aisle. I recommend the company because they were patient and listened to my vision. I’m grateful for hiring Alison for my wedding. She played violin with passion. If you need music for any event or function, hire the progressional group Cafe Con Leche Music and Entertainment.

I was asked to a corporate Halloween party as part of the entertainment. I would be reading cards as a gypsy and needed to look the part. Ms. Ballew was very friendly and professional. Not only talented with hair and makeup, she free handed henna tattoos for my hands that people asked about for days afterwards. I would highly recommend her talents and will most assuredly call on her again.

~ Clip from BORO PULSE NEWS by Christi Bradford ~ Article Title: Smooth Sounds in the 'Boro: Jay Witherspoon Becoming Local Legend The man can sing anything. From country to alternative to everything in between, and he can sing it all very, very well. After learning about the album he's currently working on, I sat down with him and his producer Jerry Michael of Michael Entertainment to have a little chat. Jerry has been working with Jay developing his voice. Jay said when I met Jerry [my producer], I told him: when you find a song, I'm your piece of clay; mold me into whatever you want. Jay has some background in jazz. But always there is soul. It permeates every note. It runs through the core of his being. You can hear it in his voice; see it in the way he works a crowd: country-soul. Jerry has more to say on the subject of Jay's singing. "I've worked with some great singers and that is what Jay has developed into; he's a great singer." It's easy to agree with him. When I learned he was releasing an album very soon, in fact. I insisted on sitting down with him for the express purpose of sharing him with as many people as possible. For those of you who know Jay: you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who don't: the release of his new album will inevitably skyrocket to fame and fortune.

    About

Aside from the obvious, that I'm a hard-working female DJ in a male-dominated industry, my strengths lie in my ability to read a crowd and set the vibe so everyone in the room - no matter where they come from - is comfortable, welcome and having a great time. I leave impressions and believe I am a trailblazer in that I also educate up-and-coming DJs to do the same.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a bounce house?

Bounce houses, inflatable castles, moon bounces, inflatable slides and jumpy castles are all large-scale inflatable houses made for interactive entertainment. Commonly intended for children, bounces houses are made of PVC or other durable materials such as nylon or vinyl that when look like a house or castle when inflated. Rental companies deliver bounce houses to birthday parties, festivals, fairs and other events. The companies have industrial-grade blowers that fill the large structures with air to make them bounceable. A common size for a bounce house might be 15 feet by 15 feet by 13 feet. Bounce houses often have a flat, inflatable bottom pad and inflatable walls so that kids can jump and bounce without being hurt, along with a netting door and windows so that kids can see out and adults can see in. Bounce houses are suitable for both indoor or outdoor events, depending on the venue. For large events, rental companies often have a staff member who stays with the structure to monitor safety and keep it properly inflated. There are also wet/dry bounce houses with slides that you can hook up to a hose on hot summer days. A bounce house can be a fantastic addition to a party with kids, keeping them both entertained and contained.

    Are bounce houses safe?

Bounce houses can be safe if operators and parents take proper precautions. Before renting from a company, confirm they are a legitimate company and hold any licenses and insurance required by your state. Ask to see reports of bounce house safety inspections provided by third parties, to make sure the equipment is in good operating condition to prevent injuries. If the rental company does not provide a staff member to oversee the bounce house for the duration of the rental, make sure you are properly trained on how to oversee the equipment. The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these guidelines for parents to help keep their kids safe when using a bounce house:

    • Follow guidelines for safe installation including anchoring. Position away from fences, greenhouses, branches, etc., which would be dangerous should a child fall onto them.
    • Consider limiting use to children 6 years of age and older.
    • Have kids take off footwear, eyeglasses and jewelry before playing.
    • Take sharp objects (pens, keys) that could cause puncture injuries out of their pockets and hands before playing.
    • Don’t let kids of significantly different sizes into the bounce house at the same time. Smaller kids can get hurt by colliding with or falling under an older child.
    • Heed the height and weight regulations of the inflatable.
    • Food, drink, bottles, glasses, etc., should not be taken onto the bounce house.
    • Supervision should be maintained all the time. Supervision means watching constantly, not just being in the area.
    • Do not allow children to push other children off the inflatable. If it is a flatbed, this is especially important to avoid broken arms and legs. If the bounce house is walled, don’t let kids bounce against the walls and crash into one another — this can result in collision injuries.
    • Don’t exceed the maximum number of children at one time in the bounce house.
    • Don’t let kids climb onto the outside walls. Flips and rough play should also not be allowed.

How much does bounce a house cost to rent?

Bounce houses are a fun way to keep kids entertained during birthday parties and other events. The national average cost for renting a bounce house ranges between $160 and $200. Cost will be affected by the size, design and functions of the bounce house you rent as well as the length of the rental. A three-hour rental will likely cost less than an eight-hour rental. Many rental companies offer fun additions like popcorn machines or cotton candy makers, and provide packages with discounts on multiple items. Another item that you may want to rent with your inflatable is a generator to keep the bounce house inflated. Here are some examples of average inflatable rental costs, packages, and common add-ons that many companies provide:

    • Bounce house, 10x10x13-foot: $95.
    • Bounce house, 15x15x13.5-foot: $125.
    • Wet/dry slide, 14-foot: $150.
