Mr. Stein is a thorough professional. He educated me with the process of data recovery from my crashed hard drive and also explained the whole process. He suggested that I take the drive to Best Buy and get it examined - Best Buy offers free diagnostics service. He could have easily asked me to come and made some money on the diagnostic, which he did not do. He explained me the tools that can be used and all options that could be used to recover the data
My external hard drive was no longer reading. I had my family's pictures, videos, music all on it and thought it was lost forever. My external hard drive stopped working and then the USB port disappeared into the casing. I was devastated because years of work was in that hard drive and it was the back-up for my Mac that had broken. I investigated data recovery/repair options online and the quotes were at least $500. I was distraught. Then Thumbtack popped up in search results and I decided to give it a try. John responded promptly with a flat fee of $50, regardless of amount of work. He spent two weeks recovering my data--hours and hours and hours--and he did it!!!!! I have never been so grateful and relieved. I owe John so much and could not recommend him strongly enough. John took my computer while I was away on vacation with family. He continually contacted me when there was a question or concern and kept me updated, daily as the progress continued. Initially, I had taken my laptop to Fry's and was confused by all of the problems they said I had. While at Fry's I met John, who was a customer, and he asked me what the problem was with my laptop. He indicated that, if I went with Fry's quote, I needed to ensure that they did not charge me for another copy of Windows 7 because it was already installed on my laptop and could be reinstalled after fixing or replacing the hard drive. He gave me his phone number and I decided to call him to discuss this when I got home. I called John and he asked me a lot of questions about the laptop and came to the conclusion that the problem was less serious than was described. He indicated that he could take a look at the laptop and run several programs to assess it's issues. I took the laptop to him and over the period of a week found that the original assessment of 'replacing the hard drive,' purchasing and reinstalling Windows 7 and buying another copy of Microsoft Office was false and he would start working on the fix that very day. He called me for permission to buy 'recovery dvd's from Gateway to ensure that the correct software would be installed with the proper drivers, etc. He indicated that the major problem with the laptop was that it had been used and not 'optimized' for so many years that the software had become corrupted with conflict of drivers, etc. By the time I got home the following week, he had diagnosed the entire laptop, performed a COMPLETE backup of my entire laptop files and re-installed the laptop to Gateway factory specifications, all without charging me any additional fee. Most of what was done did not require me to pay for more software or hardware. John knew what he was doing and my laptop is working better than when it was delivered, brand new. The hard drive did not need to be replaced and I was ecstatic about the work he performed. I can honestly say that he saved me over $250 in repairs that were unneeded and my laptop has never worked better or faster. I will certainly call him again, if the need arises. I appreciated his patience and efforts with this technically challenged individual!!!! If you need someone to fix your computer, laptop or network, you need to contact John because he will give you the best quote and keep you informed, daily of the work he is doing. You can't go wrong with his services.
My MacBook Pro would not boot up after sending it off to have the hard drive upgraded. Ryan did an excellent job of getting it fixed and loaded with an operating system. Ryan is your guy...he is awesome!
The service was excellent. They clearly explained what the issues were with my PC hard drive and how they planned to resolve them. My only criticism is that they kept guaranteeing that the work would be complete by a certain day, then that date would keep getting pushed back. I would rather they just give a more conservative time estimate and know that it's reliable. However, for my purposes this was no big issue and they did a great job!

Paul helped figure out why I was running out of space constantly on my computer. It turns out there was a glitch in my anti-virus and it was continually backing up copies of my hard drive over and over again. I would have never had any idea what was going on, but he was able to remote into my computer and fix it in a jiffy. Has no shop for repairing/recovering hard drives, farms out to a third party. However he did go to great lengths to determine if drive could be recovered without sending it off, then followed up to be sure it was being handled fairly and promptly. Good guy to deal with, in spite of limitations
I was having issues with what I thought was my hard drive, I texted Sandbox, and we coordinated picking up the device that day, within two days, I had my pc back and it is working great. It was determined not to be a drive issue but a rogue application running in the back ground. Very please with time, cost and work done. I highly recommend.
