Trina P. says, "The owner, Marcus Cruz, was incredible frankly! He came and did the estimate (the others I had touched base with either wanted to give an "on the fly" estimate without ever actually looking and measuring and talking to me in person and the other ghosted me). Spent a lot of time finding out what I was wanting to do, making suggestions, etc. Gave me his estimate (EXTREMELY competitive $$) within a few days and I hired him!! Hooray for me!! I am the first one to admit I can be a genuine pain in the butt .. he answered every one of my endless questions. I don't drive much and was really conflicted about driving to the north side of Austin even though I knew I should see the actual slabs. Marcus took me up there himself. Amazing .. the instant I saw the slabs (right next to another granite I had been considering) there was no question! He has 2 members of his crew .. Carlos and his brother (I apologize .. I have forgotten his name) but they were awesome esp. considering I'm not comfortable with strangers in my house (I have PTSD) .. they were great! They came the first day and removed all the ancient formica counters and the sink. Next day they came and worked all day .. did a lot of the finishing work right on site (cutting out outlets, etc) and even put up with my nit-pickiness without blinking an eye and everything I mentioned to them .. they tweeked and fixed. Everything was installed, clean-up was done (clean better than I do) and Marcus came back to double check and make sure I was "finally" happy. And the seam work is incredible .. as many solid sheets were cut as possible then extra care was taken so where angles required a split .. they took excellent care to make sure the continuity of the veining stayed as true as possible! Next up .. new floors! UNFORTUNATELY, now I can see that I'm going to have to change the color scheme of the kitchen and great room because the counters are so beautiful! I can live with that! I have no problem recommending AMC Renovations and, since there was a good size of one slab left over .. he's going to store it and once I'm ready .. I'm going to have him use it for the guest bathroom. I don't typically do reviews other than star clicks but I had to this time!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
