In some of the reviews I read about Mike and in speaking with one of his customers "you'll be glad you did" was said repeatedly. The words I said were "thank God we hired Mike!" We hired Mike to install a sink and faucet. An install we'll all remember for a long time. Existing pipe locations paired with the new sink's drain opening locations, ridiculously short connecting lines and a bunch of other issues made it seem like someone was playing a cruel joke on us. You would have to have seen it to believe it! After a considerable amount of effort and time, Mike decided to go to Home Depot for a couple of parts....at 5 o'clock on a Friday. He returned to finish the project, made more headway and was thrown one last curve ball towards the end. At that point we called it a day, told him to go home to enjoy what was left of his Friday night and made tentative plans for the next morning. Instead of going home, he went to Home Depot for the final missing part. At 7:45 pm he texted me a picture of the part he was buying and asked if he could come back 7:15 am the next morning! (he showed up at 7:10 am) In the end, everything turned out great, just like he said it would! Mike's personality and reassuring attitude got us all thru a messy situation. We've found someone that we trust professionally and like on a personal level. "Just Call Mike" The slogan on his business card hits the nail on the head! Just call Mike, you'll be glad you did! Above and beyond! Those words are a true definition of Jason and work partner Dustin. On top of being very professional and knowledgeable of his profession, Jason was very positive thoughout the whole installation process. I made what should have been a simple water heater install into a compete multi hour nightmare for both of them. But throughout the whole process these guys were incredible! They got the job done in spite of me and the way they both handled the situation proved to me that I contracted the right guy! If your looking for honest, fair, hardworking plumbing contractors, this team is pretty special! Thank you Jason and Dustin, I will most certainly recommend your services!

They came out to mount a celing fan and hardwire a motion light. They responded promptly, and when the heavy rain storm prevented them from coming, they communicated right away. They completed the work quickly and efficiently, and everything works well. The price was excellent, and both Fransys and Bladimir are extremely personable and great to work with. I have found my new best helpers for work I can't do myself, definitely will use them again! Highly recommended!

New construction, HVAC install (spray foam home). I needed a high-quality system with a solid aesthetics in relation to box placement. My house also requires a contractor familiar with spray foam homes and Dayton was able to deliver. They were fast and thorough with rough-in. Looking forward to firing everything up when the other subs finish up.

We are very pleased with the look of our bathroom. Felipe was easy to work with and did his best to make sure we got the design we wanted. We received quotes from several contractor between $8,500 to $43,000. Felipe quote was not the lowest but in the range we thought was reasonable for our size bathroom. Our project had several set backs which were no ones fault: The tub filler we selected had a design flaw, which required some redesign. The sink drains didn't work the way we hoped and had to order replacements. The tub showed up with a crack and we had to order a replacement. Felipe worked with us through each issue and did his best to guide us to a solution. One of the great things about working with Filipe was the fact he knows some very good subcontractors. The company he recommended to do the show glass, did a great job at half the cost other companies quoted for the same work. Plus we got a lifetime warranty on the glass and workmanship. With every project there's always the 90/10 rule. 90% of the work is straight forward and fairly easy to complete. The rest of the work is more tedious and requires time. There were a couple of areas I thought the work could have been better: The pony wall tile was not cut straight and left ragged grout edges (picture). The retexturing could have been better if not rushed (picture). The caulking around the tub, particularly behind the tub was very poorly done. For the price, I really don't have anything to complain about. This was our first project hiring a contractor to do a project. We learned some important lessons. 1) Create a check list of work items. This will help make sure there are no disagreements on what is and isn't part of the contract. 2) Inspect the work regularly. It's only your fault if the works not done correctly. 3) Don't pay until the work is done to your satisfaction. 4) Get everything in writing including the warranty. I can't say enough how happy we are with the new bathroom. I have other property in Austin and I will use Felipe for future projects.

Greg did a job for us that was out of the ordinary. He installed an antique French door like it was a storm door, in front of our entry door. To make the antique door fit the opening, wood had to be added on one side of the door and across the top edge. He worked in the evenings after his regular job and arrived when he said he would each day till the job was finished. He worked quickly and amazingly efficiently. I could tell he really knew what he was doing, although he told me he had never done this kind of job before. On the job, we agreed on an additional price for him to caulk, sand and repaint the door. And his charge was very reasonable, several hundred dollars less than another bid I got. I made a couple suggestions to make the installation more complete and he willingly did them without adding to the charge. I was very well pleased, so was my wife, and we are already planning additional projects for him to do. We have found our man for work around our home that I can't do myself.

Jose removed a old, difficult to remove, kitchen faucet and replaced with new faucet. Also replaced a leaky pipe and drain. Excellent work done at fair price. Will use him again for future plumbing problems.

Kenneth was awesome. Handled my garbage disposal install despite a lot of tricky pipe work to route the drain to the new sink location. He also ended up doing drywall repair and backsplash installation in our kitchen and it looks phenomenal. Highly recommended.

Philip can do anything!!!!! Reliable, professional, trustworthy and honest individual who stands behind his work. Our ex contractor did not finished the remodel and we were so glad to have found Philip. He came in and finished up - installed appliances, retextured walls, lighting, plumbing, electrical, fixed the chimney. He basically did everything for us and saved the day! He has also fixed the popcorn ceiling where the storm did damages. He has refinished bathtub and sink. Philip is our go to guy from now on!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
