I was trying to get a wifi extender to work so that I could get my TIVO mini to work - it has to be connected to the Internet by ethernet cable or coax/moca. Megan was able to give me a solid explanation as to why what I wanted to do would never work in a dependable way. Seems that the wifi extender is not a good solution for a strong internet connection for TIVO because wifi is not stable enough for TIVO. Wifi works fine for streaming on my laptop however. Megan was able to make the wifi extender the same name as my main router and that seemed to work great until after she left. By not being able to select the wifi extender vs the router to access the internet on our laptops, we were stuck with the wifi extender which would not work at all. That was frustrating. Since the wifi extender was not a good solution for TIVO, we just disconnected it completely. Megan had explained that what we need for the TIVO minis is to connect them directly to the Internet via ethernet cables - and not use a wifi extender for the TIVO minis. And that the best solution would be to drop ethernet cables to the rooms where we have the TIVO minis - and have those ethernet cables connected directly to the router that is connected to the internet - that router is in our living room.
Although I didn't get the Wifi extender to work the way I wanted, I learned why it wouldn't work for the TIVO minis. I have since hired Just Geek It to install the ethernet cabling.
They are very responsive which I like a lot!! Also, on the first visit, Megan came out the same day that I called which was terrific.
