FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing varies greatly depending what skill set is used. On call bar exam tutoring is $100 per hour though I have program options that cost less. Legal writing projects are $85 per hour and regular editing $60 per hour. Tutoring ESL adults is $50 per hour. High-school subjects are $45 per hour. Middle-school subjects are $35 per hour. I like having variety in my life and very much enjoy working with younger students so I am willing to make my rate for those services competitive. These rates do not include travel.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I schedule an initial phone interview to discuss the student's needs, what I can offer, and what the ideal schedule will look like in terms of time, place, and progress. There is no charge for the initial phone consultation. We will meet as agreed and make a general strategy based on the student's needs. Preparing for the bar exam, for example, requires a much more rigorous schedule than developing conversational English skills as an ESL student. We then meet for the first lesson. Homework is generally given and expected to be completed by the next lesson. I tailor all my tutoring to the individual student so homework and lessons will be specifically designed based on the student's interests. We continuously re-evaluate the initial strategy to see what is working and what needs to be changed as we progress.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Child Development from UT at Austin and a JD from University of Miami School of Law. I've done post-graduate work in English studies, Philosophy, and Interdisciplinary Studies. I studied teaching ESL at Accademia Italiana in Ascoli Piceno and taught for the Leonardo Di Vinci program. I've been tutoring the Texas Bar Exam since 2012.
