Mr Sheppard did an excellent job of painting my four rooms, I could not be happpier with the expirence. He was professional, gave me a time line of when the rooms would be complete and actually finished early as he estimated three days and finished in two. Me Sheppard was on the job early the two days he painted my rooms. I am very pleased that the job was complete and Mr Sheppard left the work are clean, he did a finally walk through with me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I will definitely be working with Sheppard Sheetrock tile and remodeling again!!

Curtis showed up ready to work and was extremely professional and trustworthy. He did a fabulous job installing a backsplash in my kitchen and building screens for every window. He worked hard the entire day. I was impressed with the amount he got done and the quality of his work. I already have him lined up for a solid week's worth of work! Definitely recommend him for any contractor needs around the house.

Josh did a FANTASTIC, OUTSTANDING job. Excellent Professional. Arrived on time both for giving quote and on the day of service. The job included thorough power washing of the house, clean the roof and the gutters. Did a remarkable job and left the place sparkling like a new one. Cleaned the place like new. Price was reasonable. When I called him couple of weeks back, he didn't have any stars or references and I was worried how it will all turn out. I'm glad for having taken that risk and got the best candidate for the job. Look forward to hire him on any future turnkey projects on the house.

My husband and I are updating our kitchen. We got woefully stuck on color choices, and were coming down to the wire when our handyman was going to start. I put a post on Thumbtack and within 20 minutes, DSI designs shot me an email to ask about the particulars. With only 9 days before the project was to start, she jumped right in. In two days, she came to our house with color, tile samples and assurances, assurances being key to our mental health at this point. :) We had given her some ideas on what we were looking for, and she brought a couple of curve balls, and one of those was over the top amazing. She helped us to pick backsplash, a new paint color for our cabinets, and kitchen walls. Roy, The Handyman, is set to go with the tiles that DSI Designs delivered personally, so as not to have to wait! thank you so much for your help!

Colt is an incredibly professional and capable handyman. After bringing him out for an estimate on a tiling project, he inquired about other work around the home and ended up completing everything on my to-do list! The work he completed is beautiful. If I were not preparing my house for move-out, I would have continued to hire him to complete even more work in my home. I highly recommend contacting him and mentioning this review as a referral. He is growing what promises to be a very successful business, and I suggest booking him now for everything you've wanted to do but just haven't had the time to yet. His schedule will not be open for long.

I hired Jesse to do some drywall patches, paint an accent wall in the living room, and complete some custom built-in closet shelves. I was more than impressed with his skill-level and professionalism. He showed up on time and completed the project quickly. I would definitely hire him again and give him my highest recommendation!

Lindsey Jackson has performed yard work/lawn care for me twice so far this year. The service has been prompt and the team has gone above and beyond what was expected of them (e.g. weeding and cleaning up grass clippings between rainstorms in May). I found their charges for service to be a bargain. The only issue I've had so far was some initial confusion about contact information and payment, though I believe this has been resolved. I will hire this team again in the future.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
