FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My price breaks down very simply: Lessons are $30 for half hour and $50 for an hour, and can be rescheduled or cancelled without penalty up until 24 hours before, when they are are paid and considered missed. For students who come the traditional hour, there is a 10% discount if you commit to a time, pay for the month (1 lesson per week) and understand that, as my boss, if you don't show up to those lessons, your employee still needs to get paid. Included in the price: Backing tracks and analysis breakdowns of any songs we work on so you can have something to work with and also have knowledge for how to improvise. Written out versions of all exercises with video demonstrations. Programmed drum tracks for you to use as a metronome for songs you are learning (rather than needing to rely solely on a metronome.) Instruments available at the lesson if you don't have one currently, if one is in the shop, or if you are coming from somewhere and don't want to leave an instrument in the car.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson is literally that - I jump right in to basic mechanics and theory. We progress in that fashion for 2 or 3 weeks, and if the student is noticeably practicing, we apply those things to their desired music to move forward. The most common student I get is one who has been playing for years and is tired of being stuck, and having so many questions about the fretboard and about music in general. If you look through my reviews, you'll see people stating specifically that I've given them answers for all of their questions.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have sung since 1986, I have played guitar since 1990, I have been a professional musician since 2000, and I have a degree in music from TWU with voice, cello and guitar as primary instruments.
