If you have just discovered MarVeena, you are in the right place. I woke up one morning, my entire body in pain and realized I did not want to live my life the way it was. Things had to change. I had been diagnosed with Endometriosis, Migraine Headaches, Anxiety, Stomach Ulcers, Acid Reflux, Asthma, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and IBS. I was over weight, weak and really struggled every time I had to leave the house. I had turned to alternative healing because doctors were unable to help me. My Healer told me that I was empathic, and possessed many “medium” qualities and that I should find a medium to help me understand what I was experiencing. I found MarVeena a couple of years ago while doing an online search for a Medium in my area. It took me a full year to get up the courage just to contact her. When I finally did, I joined her Apprentice Program hoping to be able to figure out how to handle the constant anxiety I was plagued with and understand some of the things I was experiencing. I found what I was looking for in MarVeena and so much more. MarVeena taught me the tools to really take control of my life. She taught me how to bring balance to all areas of my life and validate some of my own experiences for me. I also took her Reiki classes and the healing I have received on all levels has been amazing. My health has improved so drastically it is just amazing. I didn’t expect that when starting her program. I am so thankful to have been lead to MarVeena. She is an amazing and talented Medium. She delivers messages with validation from the other side. MarVeena is a wonderful caring teacher and I personally will consider her a life long friend. On a side note: If you are looking for someone to stroke your ego or tell you what to do with your life, you will be disappointed. That is not what MarVeena is about. She will show you the path that if followed will help lead you to figure out what you want to do with your life.

Dr. J is amazing! I have had 3 operations in the past several years and he did his magic on me before and after the surgeries. My doctors had the perfect procedures for me and I recovered in record time that the doctors were amazed at! I recovered in days instead of weeks or months and am experiencing perfect health thanks to Dr. J! If you are seeking more good health and abundance in your life I would recommend a visit to THE DOCTOR! Sincerely, Dr. Hank 214-753-7204 DrHank@DrHank.biz

I've never had a doctor pay me such personal attention: He went out of his way to speak with one of his colleagues about a medical condition I have; He was able to get me a quick appointment to see another physician; He correctly diagnosed, what was previously mis-diagnosed as restless leg syndrome, a low back issue and began treatment - after ordering an MRI to confirm his suspicions. I once had a doctor that became part of the concierge program. I had to pay to be his patient and he never delivered. Dr. Peay delivers.

Saiyad Ahmed is my first line of defense for any illness or difficulties. He is a true professional and has a very personal and warm manner with his patients. He is most sincere and genuine, qualities i hold in highest regard. Dr. Ahmad is always seeking to learn more and this is impressive as I see on each visit he has increased his knowledge. A gentle practitioner of acupuncture. He is one of few people in this field that I have complete trust. I have recommend him numerous times.

After Donnie and my Doctor reviewed my MRI, I met Donnie at his office in Carrollton. Donnie consulted with me and set up a treatment schedule made to relieve me of my pain. Consultation and treatment only took 1 hr and 20-min. I felt Donnie was very thorough and knowledgeable. He was greatly skilled in his work on me and was very professional and pleasant. I felt so much relief in only that one session, that I have continued to see Donnie on a regular scheduled basis..

I've had back issues for many years, and I'm also reasonably active for a person with a desk job (try to go to the gym every other day)...and Nicole is by far the best massage therapist I've ever had. Other therapists I've used in the past ranged from the ones at generic walk-in places to the more technical therapists affiliated with chiropractors/doctors. Her experience with yoga and physical fitness (offroad biking) are a huge plus. Not to mention she's an all-around great person and very customer-focused.

Chelsea helped me get get my body ready to heal and walked me through the healing process. I love when doctors say "but that doesn't heal" and I say, "I know but thank God it did!" Chelsea has helped me overcome Lymes, Chronic Fatigue, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and more. Chelsea partnered with my specialist to make sure my prescriptions from him and natural treatments from her would complement each other to achieve healing. Without Chelsea I would not have experienced the healing that I have. She refused to give up on me even when the specialist was ready to call it quits. I thank God for Chelsea!

i had losts of pain, tried exercises, and unfortunately resolvee to use painkillers, after visiting personal Doctor. I have seen Dr, Rod work on others, and did not subscribe to these methods. I submitted to an attempt with him, and after one treatment I feel relieved of pain that other therapy (Doctors, Therapist, Chiropractors, Massages and drugs) could not nor did not resolve. It is amazing the simplicity of what he did brought me great relief. If he can help you, then I Highly recommend him. I know that he will do all that he can for you.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

  • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
  • Nutritional medicine
  • Botanical medicine
  • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
  • Hygiene
  • Counseling
  • Minor surgery
  • Homeopathy
  • Acupuncture
  • Intravenous and injection therapy
  • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

  • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
    • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
  • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
    • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
    • Do I need a referral?
    • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
    • What will the co-pay be?
    • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
  • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.
