Se really took her time on my unruly, wiggly Laso Apso. It was my first time getting him groomed (I had him shaved for the summer) and he looked and smelled amazing!! I will definately call her next time I need to get my dog groomed!

Laurel comes every day, every other week to walk our dog. Our schedule varies and she is accommodating. She spends 20 minutes walking him which is perfect considering the low cost. Excellent value!

If I could give 10 stars, our family would! Our first experience with Tami has been amazing. We will definitely be asking her to care for our senior pitt terrier again. Our fur baby has had some medical issues lately and when we left out of town for about ten days she was still sickly and underweight, needing alot of TLC. Tami/Paws n Claws has been supportive and caring even before we dropped her off, checking on our dog via text and offering very helpful and accurate advice that was instrumental in helping us nurse her to health with the vet. We opted to leave our dog at Tami's home instead of ours for the time needed, due to our dog's state of being. This was a wonderful option and just what we needed! Her home is located in a nice neighborhood with a beautiful yard and very well behaved fur babies of her own that live there. Whenever we went to her home for visit/drop off/pick up it was always easy to communicate with her and change times if needed for my convenience. Her home is always very clean and nice smelling each time I've been and very comfortable for my dog. My dog was spoiled and pampered and we received texts and pictures and updates every day. She had no problem giving our dog her meds and special diet. She treated our dog like her own family. Tami is very knowledgable, talented, and passionate in what she does and we are so blessed to have found her. I would recommend her to anyone. When we picked up our dog she was very happy and comfortable and relaxed at Tami's house and she looked great and super healthy. If you are someone who has a family pet, and looking for quality care for them when you can't be there...you don't want anyone else but Tami, Paws and Claws! Thanks Tami!

Peace4Paws did an amazing job at a fantastic price! Emily was super friendly and took great care of my dog. She sent several photos and update texts each visit - going as far as hand feeding her when she wouldn't eat. Emily even picked up my mail and offered to cleanup the dog hair. My older dog doesn't do well when I have to be away - this is the first time I have and she hasn't lost weight and seemed her normal self. I'm a fan and will definitely rehire.

Comfort Crew Petsitters have been wonderful! I have used them for over a year to take care of our three dogs 3 times per week. There have been occasions I've had to cancel or add a visit without much notice and they are very flexible. The first thing that impressed me was that they leave a detailed description of the visit each time they are there--no guessing if the petsitter showed up or not. Another thing that is great is the PayPal billing because it is wonderfully convenient! Daniel is very good with our dogs and I highly recommend them :).

Femila took wonderful care of my dog Tulip while I was away for 3 weeks. When I returned, you could see how much Tulip loves Femila. It was clear that Femila had treated Tulip with as much love as her own dog. Before I left, Tulip was really struggling with housebreaking. Femila somehow worked her magic because Tulip has only had one accident since then. Night and day difference! I hope Femila is available the next time I need dogsitting because she is the best and Tulip adores her! Thanks, Femila! Sincerely, AJ Joiner (experienced dog owner and frequent foster mom with Shelter2Rescue)

Makenzie has always taken very good care of our Rufus. He's extremely nervous with new people, but he warmed up to her pretty quickly. I believe dogs are able to sense friendly dog people, and Makenzie is one of them. She's concerned about holistic pet health, so no table scraps or overfeeding will occur with your pet. She's got a keen awareness of what is good and bad for a pet to consume. I rest easy knowing Rufus is being taken care of by Makenzie!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

        • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
        • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
        • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
        • What are your different walk routes?
        • When will you pick up and drop off?
        • How will we communicate?
        • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
        • What’s your cancellation policy?
        • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
        • How and how often do I pay you?
        • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
