I hired Platinum Pro to build a 700 sqft home extension that included a bedroom, a bathroom, a closet and a study. It was a complicated project that required integration of the extension into the existing home and I think they did a very good job overall. Here are the pros and some watch outs/opportunities: Pros: 1) Value for service - they priced the job very competitively and provided an all inclusive quote. Everyone else prior to that had lots of caveats/unknowns but Matt/Andrew’s simple, customer focused proposal made me pick them right away. 2) Turnkey - they provided everything to build the extension as well as the visible material including shower, vanity, flooring, fixtures etc. Made the overall process simple. 3) Managing unknowns - they managed a number of unknown items like relocation of gas meter, existing roof structure, number/location of new hvac, oversized shower area etc really well. 4) Quality of workmanship - Outside of a few items (listed in opportunities), the overall price to quality was very satisfactory. They are not a premium builder and I wasn’t expecting that either, but it was more than adequate with good finish. Opportunities: 1) The first set of crew was quite poor, resulting in a lot of rework (though they never charged me for that), which made us lose some time and sleep. Particularly, the flooring work (LVP) was done by the first crew and is not even/good. I may have to spend some money down the road to carpet over it or get it replaced. 2) Permitting took a long time (expected in Frisco), but communication during that period could have been better. They rectified it during the construction phase with regular updates. 3) The gas line relocation task was underestimated and resulted in disconnection of our gas water heater for 8-10 weeks. This was in Oct/Nov period when we needed hot water, so I had to spend money to install an electric water heater as a supplement ($3000 expense). While this was a learning for all of us, more due diligence could have helped us save some headache. 4) A lesson for me that others may benefit from - with Platinum or with any GC, make sure that the contract is very thorough and includes everything. The part that connects the extension to the original part of the house was supposed to be tiled (was discussed) but not written explicitly, so LVP flooring was a compromise in order to prevent carpet from being used for the study (which is also an exit to the patio and having carpet there would have been weird) - Platinum did well to come up with the LVP compromise. There were a few minor things that were discussed but not documented and would have needed additional work orders, so make sure to have everything in the contract. Overall, in times where contractors take money and disappear (for months or forever) or destroy the home, Platinum was very reliable and trustworthy. Andrew and Matt are very conscientious, never did I worry about the job not being done. I recommend them for your minor and major home improvements.

Good quality work we hired them back in September of 2023. Platinum did an excellent job repairing the sunken/settled areas on our large travertine paver patio. Pricing was fair, quick turnaround from quote to repair date, great communication from the office.

Be direct. Confirm appointment via text/phone call. If a person asks for a call back and you can’t do it. Say you can’t. Say you can only text. If you’re too busy to take on new jobs say so “straight out the gate.”Don’t lead a prospective customer on like you are going to assist and your company end up looking “totally unorganized.”

Details: I'm just starting • Repair existing structure • No load-bearing structures involved • 1,000 - 1,500 sq ft • Home • Owner
