Brian C. says, "I filed an Insurance claim with State Farm and decided to reach out to Guardian to check the roof before State Farm send out their people. Ryan showed up at 9:00am as requested and asked several questions about my deductible and the storm. After that he inspected the Roof, Fence, Gutters, Windows, and pretty much the whole house. When he was done he grabbed an iPad and showed me the photos of my roof. He then explained that it would only be a minor repair and suggested I cancel my claim so it wasn’t on my file when it came time for renewal. He repaired the roof on the spot and provided a 2 year warranty. What I found odd was that 2 other roofers that inspected my roof said it needed a full replacement, but never showed me photos of the roof. In a world full of people that tell you what they want it was refreshing to have someone tell me only what was needed. It also saved me from having filed a claim on my record. I would recommend Ryan and Guardian to anyone and will definitely be calling again when I need an honest contractor"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I hire the best general contractor in Fort Worth?

Search online to find the best general contractors in Fort Worth, and read the customer reviews. Try to narrow your search to a few reputable contractors, and make sure the contractor offers the services you need (for example, new construction or plumbing).

Contractors in Texas should always have up-to-date insurance and licenses. And before you hire, ask several contractors in the Fort Worth area to send you free cost estimates.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.

Do general contractors offer remote or virtual services?

General contractors perform manual work and typically need to be present to complete their projects. However, if you come across a profile that states the contractor is offering remote services, ask what those services include. You can also ask if they can perform a consultation via video call and if they can do the job while following guidelines from the CDC and local agencies.
