I knew myself well enough to no that was not going to work for me and it would be a monumental waste of my valuable time and extremely limited resources. I think most of the personal trainers that preferred and pushed forthe Zoom meetings over in person training is because they can maximize their time and get to more clients without having to travel to said clients and or having clients travel to them and also more easily change times and schedules if clients don't show up or flake out on them. But I know I needed someone to be there in person guiding me and correcting my form and Technique in real time and that was the only way I was going to commit to it and follow through. So after I reviewed many different personal trainers I started contacting the ones I thought would be the best fit for me. Jason was one of the first ones I decided on and seemed the best fit for me. I contacted him and he was enthusiastic about working with me but he was just getting over some surgery at the time and wouldn't be able to start working with for another week. Because I was impatience and wanting to start as soon as possible I thanked him for letting me know and that I was going to continue to check out other personal trainers. But for some reason I just felt like I was missing an awesome opportunity by not working with Jason and kinda felt like this is the guy I needed to work with despite having to wait a week to start training with him. I don't know what it was but there was definitely something telling me Jason was the right guy and the one I needed to start the changes I wanted to make. I actually felt like I was making a bad or the wrong decision not waiting to work with Jason when he was helped up and ready to work with me. I filled that away in my mind for later though and proceeded to contact other trainers. I contacted one woman and she was enthusiastic but could only do Zoom meetings. I thanked her but politely declined her offer. I personally think Zoom meetings for personal training is dumb and a waste of time and money on the client's part but I guess it works for some people. Contacted another guy and he said he was involved in coaching some kind of little league baseball league or something and wouldn't be available for a week or two but could do the Zoom meetings and said that those were very good and helpful to people. Again I knew myself and that wasn't going to work at all and thanked him for letting me know and politely declined his offer also. Next was this bigger outfit that has several different personal trainers that worked for them so I decided to give them a try. To li talked to this one woman and everything sounded pretty good on the surface. I decided to go with them, even though they were very expensive and wanted all the money up front. Well against my better judgement I decided to go with the big company. They assigned me a trainer and I was excited about getting started. Well when I was supposed to meet with the trainer he I tried to contact him and he was radio silent. This went on for all the day I was supposed to meet him and the next day also. So two days after I was supposed to meet with the trainer and he didn't answer any of my calls I got in touch with the company again to find out what the problem was. It turns out the trainer I had been assigned to ended up dropping me and I was assigned to a different trainer but no one had bothered to contact me and let me know anything about the changes and I'd been marked as a no-show with the new trainer if unknowingly been reassigned to. It turned out that the new trainer I'd been assigned to only did Zoom meetings. I'm the initial interview process with this company they tried really hard to push Zoom meetings on me and kept talking about how awesome and beneficial they were. I'd explicitly told them I was not interested in Zoom meetings for personal training and that if I couldn't work in person with someone then I'd just keep looking for someone that could do in person training with me. So after all the mix up and not being told anything about any of the changes This REALLY ticked me off severely and I remembered that the company did offer a full refund within 30 days if I wasn't satisfied with their service. Well after only for days I was severely impressed with they way they did business and asked for a full refund which they did give me but I had to wait almost 2 weeks for my money to be sent back to me! So after all this I remembered talking to Jason and by this time a week had gone by and he was supposed to be back to work training people. I still had this nagging feeling that I was definitely supposed to work with him and if I didn't I'd really regret it. So lucky I didn't ignore this feeling and I reached out to Jason again and briefly told him about what had gone on since we'd last talked. He said he'd be glad to meet with me and see if we'd be a good fit and if we didn't then no hard feelings. Well he gave me the address to his gym and I went to meet him and do the in person interview and training evaluation. I arrived at his place and we met and shook hands and he invited me in and we went in and started to do the interview and evaluation. When he heard is been in Jacksonville, Florida for he asked me what commands I'd been in. Well it turns out that in my very first command that I was assigned to in Jacksonville was the very same command that Jason's dad was in. He asked me if I knew his dad and said yes I did. So it turns out that we had a connection that neither one of us suspected. Serendipity works in strange ways. I was so glad that the other trainers didn't work out. It was like Jason and I were destined to meet and work together. It was like finding a long lost brother you didn't know about and finding each other by accident and becoming instant friends! Well to make a long story short Jason enthusiastically agreed to take me on as a client and do in person training with me. I was so excited and grateful and couldn't wait to start. I now knew why things didn't work out with the other trainers and why I had that nagging feeling that Jason was the guy and that I needed to work with him. Anyway I had only one month to work with Jason and we met about three times a week for that month. I just want to add that no personal training with a professional is free or cheap. But Jason's fees were absolutely the most reasonable out of anyone I'd talked to and interviewed with. I have to say that Jason was the most professional and most reasonable person to work with. We we had a connection that most personal trainers and clients never have and I really think that helped us maximize the short time we trained together. I want to say that Jason is definitely the right person to work with if you're willing to give it your all and put 100% into the training. A trainer can only do as much as you're willing to go along with and push yourself to do. Jason definitely gave me the motivation I needed and I made pretty good progress in the short time I got to work together with him. I wasn't able to really lose much weight but my muscle mase actually made some gains in the month that I worked with him. To be honest some of the fat I had was actually replaced by lean muscle mass because like I said I didn't actually lose weight but the fat was changed into actual muscle. This was definitely progress and I was extremely happy with what Jason and I accomplished in only one month of training together. Jason told me if we'd had just one to two more months of the schedule we'd established and the intensive training we were doing that I probably would not have even recognized myself if I'd had before and after pictures. I definitely believe he was right about that and my only regret was that I didn't have another two months to work with Jason. I'm closing I can't say enough good things about my long lost brother by another father! Jason is awesome and a true professional that knows what he's doing and how to get absolutely incredible results for his clients. I choose to write a letter of tribute to him. I will keep my story short in order to tell a longer story of Tyler. In May of 2018 I reached out to Tyler asking him to take on a great task of rehabbing me in the midst of an extreme illness. An illness that at the least of my worries left me without the use of my limbs for a short period of time. An illness that an abundant amount of doctors/practitioners/ therapist had no answers for. Because my body as a whole: physically, mentally, and emotionally had quickly broken down due to the illness wrecking havoc over it I was out of scope for traditional physical therapy. So I researched highly rated personal trainers, narrowing down my findings to three. Then two, then Tyler. I spoke with Tyler in depth about my challenges, which meant if he took me on as a client- he too would be facing the same challenges. I needed someone committed. I needed someone who on my “bad” days wanted me to be in the gym more than I, myself wanted to be there. Without hesitation Tyler ended his interview with, “I welcome challenges”. He didn’t promise me growth, gains, or gold. In fact, he didn’t verbally promise me anything! He didn’t say much BUT what he did show me thru his work ethic and commitment has kept me by his side for over a year’s worth of a journey. My illness gives and takes quiet often from me in a vicious cycle, two really good weeks with the next one and half weeks of starting from scratch. BUT Tyler physically shows me his promises of gains, regains, regains, AND again regains repeatedly and he does it with patience. Time after time he showed me that he was committed to my progress, programming, and health. Just to mention the least of my symptoms over the last 15 months of being sick I have lost weight, muscle mass, coordination, stamina, motor planning and brain function. Yet Tyler is never deterred when I walk into his gym 3 times a week to work with him. He is a very active listener, to verbal and nonverbal cues. Therefore he never crosses safety lines jeopardizing health or safety. He is a thoughtful/coordinated trainer with a precise plan individualized for you, not a blanket program written for 12 people to use. Hardly will he say “I don’t know” and that’s not because he is the “all knowing god-complex trainer” it’s because he has education (life and book), experience, expertise, and is established in his career. BUT if he does say that, you can guarantee he will be researching in depth the correct answer to give you. In my case going back to the the drawing board is quiet frequent, but each time that happens I am given great direction and guidance by Tyler, with details and explanation of what, where, and the why of what we are doing. Tyler has been the most consistent and valuable person in my life amongst the course of my rehab. In the course of working with him (15 months now) I have yet to repeat a work out, and I go 2-3 times a week. Sometimes he scares me, ONLY because he knows my limits more than I do.
