I have been a musician for almost 11 years now and have studied under many great teachers. Through all my years of playing I have been introduced to various styles and genres of playing, so anything you would be interested in I could handle. I always start the first session with a formal sit-down to discuss goals and aspirations in the students playing. I believe there is no one formula to teaching students. I believe each student is unique and needs to be treated as such. Here at Jake's Guitar Lessons that's what we're all about.

My name is Chris Gerhardt. I play in the prog-math rock power trio, Giant Battle Monster. I attended the College of the Mainland's music department for jazz guitar where I studied under John Keifer, to whom I credit my deep appreciation for and most of my understanding of innovative guitar technique, disciplined musical composition and analysis. Afterwards, I transferred to the University of Houston to study electrical engineering while maintaining an active music career on the side, including taking students of my own. I offer guitar lessons with focus on songwriting and composition. The following are some press clips in regard to my music. "Delightfully weird, a little disturbing, GMB's aggressive math rock veers from raunchy death metal to trippy prog rock to outre sci-fi soundtrack stuff in the course of the group's most recent album, February's Giant Battle Monster vs. the Subterranean Antler Man." -- Houston Press, "Chris Gerhardt, Mastermind of Giant Battle Monster" "Giant Battle Monster come off like those freaky kids whom nobody else in school can understand because they're so ridiculously bright, the ones whose collective sense of entertainment is on a completely different plane from the average kid." -- Space City Rock, album review "For anyone who has heard the band before or has seen them live in their past incarnation, they make it look easy, but they're playing jagged riffs in weird timings at a ridiculous tempo." -- Houston Press, "A Rebuilt Giant Battle Monster Takes Aim for Japan"
