I hired Angel after I had to run a 240v plug from the breaker, which is on the outside of my house, to my leaving room on the other side of the house. Since I don't have an attic or crawlspace, the electrician had to cut a several holes into the ceiling to fish the wire over to the laundry room. I just bought the house the week before so I not very happy that I already had to cut into the ceiling. I sent out a request on Thumbtack and Angel replied right away. He gave me a quote for the job as I described it and then lowered his quote after I gave more information about it and he saw it would be less work. I appreciated that he adjusted the quote to the amount of work that was done as many people will try to gouge you. When he came over, he was on time, very polite, and quickly started working. He did a great job and now I can't even tell where the electrician cut 4 holes into my brand new home. Angel did a great job and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for repair work.

Awesome! He was on time, efficient and affordable! Even when I changed my mind on certain things I wanted he worked with me and also my schedule with work and other life events I had going on at the time. He is a very polite and focused handyman! Did a variety of things for me in my home; Installation of Pendant lights, can lights, all new door jam and frame work, track and closet door installation, window screen repairs and installations, drywall repair and other little things I needed work on in the home. I would definitely recommend Jose to others who are in need of handyman services! :D

We hired Henson Home Solutions, LLC to do an extensive remodel of our home including new windows and trim, painting the entire interior, changing square room openings to beautiful archways, replacing all interior doors, adding ceiling lights to our dark living room and kitchen, installing beautiful barn doors between two bedrooms, and a total redo of our small outdated bathroom to make it look exactly like a picture I had fallen in love with. That included a beautiful tiled walk in shower that we just love. Henson Home Solutions is a great company to work with and we couldn't be happier with their work or give them a higher recommendation.

What good fortune to have found KGK Home Improvements! I'm doing an extensive remodel on an older house and was dreading working with a dozen different contractors when I met Kyle and his crew. There has literally been no project they haven't been able to do from the flooring (magnificent mahogany), a custom stone wall in my bathroom, painting perfection, and beautiful custom built-in bookcases. They're also the best window and door installers in town and Kyle performs wizardry with trim. Most importantly to me as a homeowner, this is an HONEST crew (rare, right?) and they have NEVER charged me a dollar over their estimate....unheard of! 5 STARS ALL THE WAY FOR THIS COMPANY!!!

Very honest, straight up, quick, and professional. Jacob came personally to give me a quote on my full-house window replacement and gave the total cost of all aspects of the job, from parts to labor. Did not try to offer me "20% off if I sign to a deal today" or any of that sort of nonsense. Encouraged me to get other quotes confident that his service was the best, and it definitely was! We replaced all of the windows on our home and a sliding back door, 7 total openings. His crew was able to do everything in two days, start to finish. Kept in the loop the entire time and the crew definitely went above and beyond to provide the best service (even helped adjust and install the dog door, as it didn't fit with the new frames initially). Highly recommend Graceland to anyone needing any window-related project, small to large.

We hired Bryan to repair a rotted window sill and a door jam. He did an excellent job in a shorter time than we thought it would take. Bryan also did some plumbing repairs for us. He takes pride in his work. Bryan is very punctual and easy to deal with - no sales pressure. Bryan charges by the hour in quarter hour increments.

I didn’t know who to choose, but I had my heat problem narrowed down to the attic. I found Texas Energy Experts and I'm really glad that I did. The advisor who came out informed me that having active ventilation would reduce the attic heat that I was experiencing and I would actually feel my a/c. After installing my Solar Attic Fan, the installer from Texas Energy Experts cleaned everything up and explained just how my newly cooled ducts and more efficient air conditioner would save me from the summer heat in 2017. I can’t wait! I love Texas Energy Experts!

I got a few quotes for the complete exterior facelift we did for a very old house. These guys were competitive in their pricing and did great work. They were able to anticipate (and prepare me) for likely scenarios for the home. We had the existing siding and windows removed, new windows and doors, added insulation, new siding and paint on the whole house and a little room in back. They started when they said they were going to start and finished pretty much on time and on budget. (Thank goodness b/c the rain from Harvey started the next day). I enjoyed working with Mike, the siding and window leads (both Steve's) - all communicate well and were responsive to questions I had during the process. I'd use them again and I can recommend them without reservation.

We did a complete renovation of our home, removed old kitchen, removed one large bathroom that had too much wasted space, installed in its place a large, modern kitchen with beautiful granite countertop and bar adjacent to large living area, with lifted ceiling, installed box ceiling, canned lights, drywalled pantry, installed tiled floors and restored hardwoods, renovated bathroom, insulated house, installed new windows throughout, installed new A/C, Scope of work was extensive. Design Center provided guidance every step of the way, took time to revise plan and offer options that fit my budget. Design Center took care of all the details, handling all sub-contract work and contacts with city planning dept, etc. My phone calls were always answered or returned, workers were on site as planned. All workers were professional, respectful, friendly and paid attention to details and the quality of their work. The project was carried out over many months, and only exceeded deadline because I kept adding work to the original plan, for example, deciding to renovate the pantry, which was not initially planned. Design Center was flexible in working with me on changes and continues to be available as we plan for next phase of work, installing carport, renovating outbuildings, etc. Gordon and Ryan are a great team, and have a good team around them. I recommend them highly.

Mindy Meisel has done several projects for our family, and we consider her our go-to person for any design project we may encounter in the future. Our first project with Mindy was a 5200 square foot remodel in Austin. She and her team planned, designed, created, built, and installed the majority of the furnishings, wall treatments, window treatments, and lighting. She is focused on every detail, and her artistic creativity really becomes apparent in unusual accents such as custom shower doors and iron lighting she designed and had fabricated. She even designed drapery rods and had them made when we could not find something appropriate for the difficult to install location. We loved her work so much that we also worked with her on a remodeling some features of our ranch house in Oklahoma, then a full -out, from the ground up, interior design of a mountain home in Colorado. In each of these homes we were thrilled with the results obtained, and find her work to be not only beautiful and creative, but most importantly for us, she makes sure everything is thoroughly comfortable and liveable, and with style that will remain fresh for years. Overall , I loved working with Mindy Meisel, and hope to have a new project soon to collaborate with her again. She is seriously dedicated to producing a beautiful outcome in a timely manner, and leaves no stone unturned to find just the right accent to make each room really shine. If anything arrived damaged or in less than perfect condition, she quickly and efficiently arranged the replacements needed. I cannot think of one thing, after three projects together, that I would have wanted her to have done differently. She was able to understand what we wanted, find things that made our vision much better, and put it all together with timely precision.

Jimsco Glass & Window provides Window Repair , Window Replacement , Glass Installation In Temple, TX

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

      • Trim repair:
        • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
        • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
      • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
      • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
        • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
        • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
          • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
