I have had terminex, abc, and another pest control company to my home. They were all temporary fixes that did work. I'm glad that I got on thumbtack and found bug me not. They resolved our problem from day 1. Jamerson and his crew are prompt, professional, respectful and neat. We do not wear shoes in our home. One of the coolest things to me is Jamerson without being told removed his shoes before coming in. He respected our home we look forward for bug me not keeping our home pest free and referring anyone else with pest issue to them! Thank you Jamerson!

Great company! I had a rodent problem that I needed someone to take care of for me. John was on the spot and came out very quickly. Once he got here I explained what I thought were the problems. John was quick to climb in the attic and find that I had more than just one rodent. Being as I have small children and pets, I had lots of questions as to what he was going to be putting in the attic and such. John was very helpful and answered all my questions. He explained everything in great detail as to what he was doing and how he was going to do it. Even belter was that everything was going to be safe for the little kids and pets. He even patched the holes and showed me everything he was doing. Any questions I had, he answered in a very professional manner and in great detail. I knew everything that was going on and why. I will not use another pest control company and will tell everyone I know about him. Very honest and upfront about everything. Even though the price was more than he quoted me, he was very upfront about why and how much. Great person to work with! Great job Eco-Guard and John!

I messaged them on Memorial Day and was able to get them to provide answers to general questions and eventually book them. I asked if there was any possibility for them to come out that day and they were able to. The service techs were very friendly and professional. One of them was the owner. No contract needed like other pest control companies.

Jeremy is fantastic. Before stepping foot in my apartment, we were able to talk via phone about the types of pests that my apartment may have and the potential treatments that he'd use. Once he did arrive, he was able to provide me with the best solution that worked for my needs, instead of the blanket treatment you may get from "big" name pest control companies. I'll definitely be hiring him again!

I had contacted several pest control companies before I submitted a request on Thumbtack. Wade responded to my request & answered all of my questions immediately. I needed an inspection done that day, which I thought was impossible...he was out within hours. He took his time to make sure the inspection was very thorough & explained his findings. His customer service, quality of work & prices are exceptional. I'll definitely use Smug Bug for my home.

I looked at a bunch of pest control companies and I decided on Falkin because it was affordable. Their service call was prompt. Kevin did a thorough and wonderful job of spraying pesticide inside and outside of the house. He was professional and friendly. And he explained the process well to me. I would Recommend him and the Falkin company to other homeowners.

Was looking for a Pest control company and Grandeur(Kory) responded back promptly. I had fleas and tried all the "safer" methods but it was time for something more effective. Kory was available the next day and everything went well. He explained everything to me in detail and went above and beyond in making sure he covered all his bases. I even had to call Kory to come out a 2nd time- with no problems or hesitation. Going forward- I will be using them again for upkeep of the bugs in my yard and have already referred them to other co-workers. Keep up the good work! It's nice to meet fair and reliable business people. I'm officially flea free! :0)

We had a small problem with roaches, totally disgusting. Jessy responded to my post right away and was very helpful just over the phone. We scheduled him for the weekend, which was very helpful, and he was right on time. He treated our kitchen (the problem area) and sprayed the house. His price is amazing, he is knowledgeable and very friendly. Its been only two days since treatment and we are already seeing a difference! We have had services from Orkin and not been this satisfied with service. I would highly recommend 1st Line Termite & Pest Control.

Nature's Own is a wonderful company with great service! I had tons of mosquitoes, ants, spiders and after they left I could sit in my backyard and I saw nothing flying or crawling around. It was wonderful. And my serviceman, Jason Davis, was nothing short of awesome. He was so friendly and efficient and he explained to me step by step how their sprays work and what they are made of. I will be using this company as my regular pest control and you should too!

Tyler was very responsive and prompt. He actually came to our house responding to concerns about rats, and he kindly showed us exactly where we needed to seal off and how to do it and didn't charge us anything. We have monthly mosquito services performed by Certified Termite & Pest Control. The technicians are always very friendly and knowledgeable. We live very close to the lake and have a large amount of vines in the backyard. Thanks to the mosquito services provided, we are able to fully enjoy our backyard and pool. The last technician to service, by the name of Max, even pointed out a water leak in our front yard due to a broken sprinkler line. He treated the puddle with a product that kills mosquitos until we can get it fixed. Thanks to the excellent service, friendly technicians, and competitive pricing - we will be staying with Certified for a long time!

These guys were great. Very professional. No pressure. They just inspected the house, measured the size and explained what they the treatment should be and how much it would cost. They completed the job a couple of days later. They are my pest control company from now on anytime I have a problem. I highly recommend them.

Vitero was easy to hire, responsive, punctual, and great value for the regular pest control services. He is the owner of this service -so you are not dealing with subcontractor etc. He recently treated my place, so it's too early to comment on the overall quality but he was very professional and transparent to the services he has to offer.

Savior Termite & Pest Control is a great company with amazing service. I have had them treat both my previous apartment and the home I now currently live in. I have had a great experience at both locations. I have never had to call them for a retreat because bugs came back after a treatment. When Savior shows up the bugs leave. If you have a bug problem they are the ones to call

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
