I hired Crest to clear out a 500+ sqft section of my yard for garden and flower beds. This included removing several small trees and shrubs, removing stumps, digging out roots and removing sod to prep the area for new beds. The owner was professional, friendly and very responsive, and the crew was always on time and worked quickly and efficiently over two days. I was very pleased with Crest and will not hesitate to hire them again for my next project.

Robert and Sam did a wonderful job pruning my two oak trees, many crepe myrtle, trimmed all the bushes, and cut my lawn. In my opinion, what make Hawk's Tree and Lawn Service special is the way Robert and Sam do their work. They take their time to do good work, he take care of the yard as if it was his own yard, Robert would step back and use his aesthetic sensibility to see what branches of tree that need to be trim, not just finish the job and move to the next one. They did such good work, that when they were done with my yard, two of mine neighbor asked Robert to trim their trees the next day. I will definitely call Hawk's Tree and Lawn Service again to help me with future job. It is very nice to see individual who took pride in their work, and did it with such integrity!

Richardo at R&O is a class act. He was extremely profession, explained every step of the way, and VERY affordable. The craftsmanship is top notch, they did a fantastic job, and beat other quotes by 15%, and customized the brick work versus just throwing it up there.

We used Waterfalls to extend our patio. It was a small job so finding someone to do it for cheap enough and make it worth their time took multiple quotes from many people. Marcello came to our home within a couple days of asking for a quote, and then setup the job about a week later. Recent rains pushed the project back, but Marcelo was always letting us know the status and when he would try to get the job done. They were able to complete within one day with no mess or damage to our yard(i expected a little knowing a wheelbarrow would Be going back and forth often). I would refer Waterfalls to anyone asking for type of landscaping or yard work. They did a great job! Thank you.

They are absolutely amazing!!! JoAnne is the sweetest lady! They came out and cleared my JUNGLE or a garden out and now it looks BEAUTIFUL. She gave us helpful tips on gardening and tree planting! She even brought us cardboard to put over the garden so it stamps out and keeps out any weeds that might grow. This is an amazing company. She will definitely be my first call on anything garden/tree related!!

Drew and his crew are awesome! I have been through a few landscaping companies and they are by far the best. Not only are they attentive, clean and considerate but they also leave the garden looking beautiful! I love the fact that I don't have to worry about running to the bank to get cash. They ran my credit card after the mow was done and sent my invoice to my email. Super smooth! I don't even have to be at home when they're here. Really really love that! Also, first time mow was only 14! Who could say no to that ;) Could not ask for better service. Highly highly recommend these folks!

Baldi Gardens has done beautiful and conscientious work for me for several years. They know every aspect of landscaping, but they also listen well to the people who are their customers. When you do business with them, you will be heard and offered outstanding customer service! I love the gorgeous flowering plants they placed around the outside of my house, and the trees they suggested I use on my property. I heartily recommend their work!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
