Loved Amy and John. They took such good care of our kitty while gone. We also liked that they texted us each day to let us know how she was doing. Moving forward they will be our pet sitter whenever needed.

Every experience I've had with Wags has been fantastic! The sitters write short summaries of what they did during their visit with your pet, how your pet was that day, etc. My kitties have always been well taken care of!

Bow Wows is awesome. They are a mobile grooming service which helps me avoid having to put my kitties through the stress of having to be transported. About the experience - Kim and Tracy were great! They were accommodating to my concerns about how distressful the removal of fur matts may have been to my cat. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to remove it. I had tried to remove it myself over a period of several days but they were able to remove it within 10-15 minutes, without harming my fur baby. And they were able to give her a fanny trim, something my vet wouldn't do without sedating her first. There is something to be said about going to the professionals for different services. I love my vet but they aren't professional groomers. I will leave the medical part to the vet and the grooming to Bow Wows! I won't post a picture and spare you from having to look at a picture of my cats behind. Lol

So far our experience with K-9 Companion Pet Services has been great! After just one session (and following through on our homework) we have seen a difference in our two dogs. We are positive that further sessions will only make our dogs more obedient!

Darryl and Tammy are excellent people! I am so glad I found them for my training and boarding. They are a bit far from me but I would much rather them board my dog then leave him in a small kennel at the vet. Darryl does a great job training too, his personal dogs are fantastic examples of his abilities. I could not recommend them more.

I hired Felicia to care for my pets and to check on my house while I was out of town. I was gone for several weeks and she did an excellent job while I was away. Before going out of town, she was more than happy to meet with me so she could see what the job would entail. She came across as very professional and capable. While I was gone, she was very reliable and efficient with her duties. Felicia developed a good relationship with my cats and gave them love and attention in my absence. She texted me every day sending pictures of my pets with each message. It was very reassuring to me to have that daily correspondence. I would certainly recommend her to others and I will be asking her to work for me in the future. She is also very likable and has a pleasant personality. Thanks Felicia!

Carmen is knowable with dogs of all breeds and ages. We have an elderly dog who takes meds. That was no problem for this pro! We have used Harleys pet sitting many times, and will continue.

Rachel was an excellent sitter for my cat and dog. She pet-sat, and also house-sat for me, and was very good about responding to messages and checking in. I'll definitely be hiring her again.

I am a pet sitter based in Sugar Land, TX who loves animals. Our animals are not just pets; they are family, and I enjoy helping take care of them.

  • 6 years in business

All American House and Pet is a family-owned and -operated company. We specialize in giving all animals the love and attention that they would normally receive from their owners, giving you the peace of mind required to leave your beloved animals and home in the best hands possible.

I do pet sitting in my home or can go to your home. I do dog walking in the park or doggie taxi to apartments. I love pets!

I can watch, feed, and play with them. I can walk them and teach them new tricks they didn't know. We can go to a doggy park and play around.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
