Corley was an amazing day-of coordinator. The week of our wedding, Corley was in communication with all the vendors and confirmed all details with them. She helped us manage communication when our hotel had to change at the last minute. She attended our rehearsal the day before the wedding. She dropped off sandwiches for the bridesmaids on the day of the wedding. She also went early to decorate the venue (and it looked incredible!) She ran the ceremony and helped us stay on schedule. She organized all of the clean up and made sure the items were repacked in the correct cars. I couldn't recommend Corley highly enough!

We found Amy through a mutual friend and were so grateful to find her! My son started guitar lessons with Amy in 6th grade and took lessons for about 2years. He went on to play jazz guitar at HSPVA. We credit Amy for giving him that first guitar foundation he needed. Amy has a great talent to match the student with musical interests so that playing was fun, never a chore. She fostered collaboration among her students, giving my son his first chance at playing in a "rock band". Her recitals are fun and more like talent shows; with vocals, piano, guitar, and student bands. Enjoy and learn!

This DJ came in to rescue my wedding. I had one dj cancel on me at the last minute and he was able to take my list and create a wonderful seamless event. His crew was professional and I cant say enough about the music choices he made to keep the dance floor packed. I would definitely recommend his services.

I have performed with Isaac at The Texas Opry in Magnolia for many years. I have also seen him perform with his band and been to events that he provided the Karaoke. Isaac is a gret performer with a good voice and a good band. Very high quality entertainment.

We worked with Eric on the planning on scheduling of our wedding. He was extremely pleasant, easy to talk to, made sure everything was taken care of for us! Unfortunately, he was unable to be there at our wedding, but he handled a replacement who also did a wonderful job. Eric was very good with communication and we highly recommend Lights Out Production!

Raquel and her band gave us a really strong hour of music. Her vocals are powerful and make you feel her emotions. The band is talented and work well together and they looked like they enjoyed entertaining us. They were very professional in set up and management of their part of the event. They were perfect for our party and we would definitely like to have them back.

City Promotions has booked Karley Jayde on more then one occasion to provide us with her world class entertainment through her singing and guitar playing. She graces the stage with elegance and a disarming southern charm, perfect for any situation, be it corporate events and weddings to local bars, shops and larger venues. We had her for a weekly concert series where she brought her own fan base, and we made a great night of it. She brings her charm with her everywhere she goes, and is just a pure delight to work with! Also, I cannot say enough about her voice... guests will wonder where you found this gem. It will evoke nostalgia and unearth a stirring inside you that you didn't know was there. Her dynamic set projects honesty, truth, and beauty.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
