We hired on for a huge move, one packing day and a moving day. Both days started almost an hour late, but we had hard workers! Melinda, Georgia and Daniela were our packers. Javier and crew were our movers. All were friendly and respectful.

The movers did a good job loading and unloading the items. We moved items from a storage unit to a house which they were able to complete in 5 hours. The only constructive criticism I have for this company is to honor the booked time. We booked and confirmed for a 8a start time but the movers didn't arrive until 9:15a. The coordinator Ms Veronica failed to clearly state there is a two hour window for your appointment time. I wasn't notified of the "two hour window" for appointments until after the fact. In the quote they only mentioned a minimum of two hours to booked the movers which is completely different than setting an appointment time.

Jack and Becca are wonderful and their workers spoke very highly of them, which means a lot. I recently found Texas Move-It via a Linked-In posting from Jack that was shared by a colleague of mine. In the posting, Jack stated that he wanted to do some good and help a retired veteran move for FREE. I immediately responded to the posting and explained that I was not a retired veteran, but I was an Army veteran and expressed my interest to take his offer tho which he responded - YES! When I spoke with Becca, I was still in a bit of disbelief, but she confirmed the offer and was very meticulous in gathering pertinent information (that's always a PLUS). On the day of the move, three movers (Julito, Julio and Elizer) arrived on time and were eager to start working. The three were very methodical in their approach to the project and began working as a team to complete the objective in a timely manner, which they did. Upon arriving to the new house, they conducted an thorough onsite assessment and then began to unload. Not only did they unload, but they placed all of our furniture, beds, refrigerators and wall-mounted televisions exactly where we wanted them to be placed. They were 100% professional from start to finish. I've worked with hundreds of movers due to my profession and industry, but Texas Move-It has been the most knowledgeable, dedicated and trustworthy. After seeing them in action, I will not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to my colleagues Jack and Becca, thank you very much for doing this for my family and I. I means a lot to us..

I called Emanuel Movers to move a piano to a different spot in my home while the floor is being replaced after the flood. They came the next day after my call, arrived exactly when they said they would be there and moved the piano . They agreed to return when the floor is completed and move the piano back where it has always been. I would not hesitate to call them in the future. They are a pleasure to work with.

Mr. Shields came to my rescue when my previous movers cancelled after 7pm the day before my move! He was reasonably priced, on time, and helpful the entire time. He reassured me that he would take care of my move and he did flawlessly! They were even kind when my girls decided to help (and were in the way). I cannot tell you how blessed I feel to have found this company. I will NEVER use anyone else again. Honest, kind, trustworthy, and dedicated! God bless you and your company for coming to my rescue! This is a company that provides perfection in moving services!

I'm so glad that I chose Bellhops for my move. I used the labor option w/o moving truck because I was moving less than 50 ft. from my old apartment to an adjacent unit. The two movers arrived as scheduled and went above & beyond their work duty! One mover helped repair a broken bookshelf that I had planned on throwing away. Alongside the amazing repair, the movers both worked very quickly and efficiently. I cannot praise them enough! Thank you Myles and Eric for making my move so easy!

These guys are absolute machines. They moved me from a second story unit to a third story in 90 degree weather in about 4 hours, transit time included. I got them lunch on the way and they barely stopped working to eat. Not a single scratch or dent on any of the furniture, they took a lot of care wrapping everything well. Did not find any other movers that even came close on the price. Definitely will keep Victor's number for any future moves and would recommend Precise Moving to anyone looking to move.

Overall good experience. Couple of things that kept me from rating their service 5 stars. The quote seemed very clear and after I emailed Stephane a couple times I felt confident that there was no surprise charges. However, when the movers arrived there was a new charge on the invoice for 30$ for shrink wrap. Seemed like a minor charge but I would have like the disclosure of the charge up front. The second thing that kept me from the giving a perfect score was that the move happened to fall on a day it was raining. It seemed that the movers would slow down to a crawl or stall during the heavier rain, like they were scared of the rain. The last issue I had was paying for the move. I clarified via phone that I was able to pay with a credit card at the end of the move. The movers gave me an invoice and I gave them a credit card and they asked if I had cash or a check. They accepted the credit card but the process took over a half an hour to process, even after the movers left I received a phone call from the office to process the card again. Seems like such a simple process of paying was very difficult. Overall 4 out of 5 stars.

Their service was excellent. Their price point was right on. They were on time, handled my prize possessions with care. My three movers (Paul, Juan & Eric) worked together as a team to accomplish all tasks. I would definitely recommend them. Zeke coordinated all efforts from office, came to my house prior to move to give me a very fair bid. It was a very pleasurable experience all around.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
