I highly recommend Daniel Angulo!! I needed a photographer to take and send me edited photos in less than 48 hours from when I called for a tight deadline I had to meet. I hit the jackpot when I selected Daniel Angulo to come out to do the photography for our executives' corporate headshots. Daniel more than exceeded our expectations and we are absolutely thrilled with how the photos turned out. He made everyone feel very comfortable and made it an enjoyable experience. He is super nice, very flexible with the last minute changes we had, and was truly great throughout the whole process. The photos look AMAZING. I was blown away at how polished and professional the images came out. We plan to book Daniel to come out and take pictures of our management team in the next week or two. I am also working on having him come back on in January to take pictures of our sales team. I cannot give a higher recommendation to a more talented photographer. We really came through for us and saved the day. We are looking forward to working with Daniel in the future.

Daniel was fantastic! My project required filming an interview style setting and mixing this with iPhone videos and pictures. He was very responsive to my initial request for assistance and he took the time to talk through my project in detail. He had great suggestions for video location, high quality filming equipment and excellent editing skills. From start to finish, the entire project was complete within one week and he quickly produced my exact vision for the video, exceeding my expectations! I will definitely be recommending Daniel to other colleagues in my firm.

Ray was a breeze to work with. He was very professional and did a great job lighting our difficult filming space. The only thing that could've been improved was that the set up took longer than I anticipated. I do think some of that had to do with our filming location and his goal to have it lit well. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a videographer for a professional project.

I hired David Gaona (GFilms) to film a 2-camera video of a live performance held inside a recording studio, which simultaneously recorded the audio. I knew what I wanted to accomplish and how I wanted the final product to look, and David got it for me. He filmed it, sync'd the audio and edited it into a final 3 minute marketing tool. I liked his camera angles and his invisibility on the set. I mean, I knew he was there and working, but he was never a distraction. He on time, he promptly worked with all my requests and I have nothing negative to say about him. On the contrary, after that video, I hired him for a second video we are almost finished editing! I recommend David.

I am a videoproducer in S. CA, and I needed a medical procedure filmed in Houston, and hired Otto to film the procedure and be "in charge" of the shoot. He did great, was very communicative throughout the entire hiring, filming and delivery process, is easy to work with, and is attentive to every aspect of the job. When I need more filming in Houston, Otto will be the first person I will call.

They did a great job. I outlined my requirements via a word document with screen captures of my personal videos to act as a video script for them. They added special features per my request and they made it happen for a reasonable fee. I'm a happy customer and will definitely use them again when needed as well as share my experience with friends and family. They literally edited my raw video film and enhanced the quality of my film. The end result is my son's high school football highlights that have been published to YouTube for access for college coaches. 👍🏾👏🏾💯

Julio amazed us with his ability to take what ideas we had of things we wanted included in the video and add even more special moments. He quickly gets to know you and then offers staging ideas that compliment your personalities. His footage is incredible, the way he captures precious moments at various angles and then puts it all together to form a beautiful film. Julio is passionate about what he does and is an absolute pleasures to work with. I highly recommend Julio for any filming dreams you may have!

Outstanding work! He filmed my son's hour long junior year piano recital. He was so quiet an unobtrusive during the filming and the video they put together was excellent. We needed something a little unusual and he was quick to accommodate. We couldn't be happier and will hire him again next year when my son has his senior high school recital.

Aja's eye for what works on the screen along with her ability to be flexible enough to work within my personality, creative enough to make modifications on the fly and a consummate professional allowed my video to exceed expectations. The turn around time between filming, editing, re-edits and final product was extremely punctual especially with her communicating throughout the entire process. I look forward to working with her on future projects and strongly recommend her to anybody looking to have media work done. James Brown Jamesbrownjr360

We chose CA Films through a recommendation of friends and they did NOT disappoint! Coco and his team were incredibly responsive, professional and made us feel at ease throughout the entire wedding process, they were AMAZING! They had us laughing and brought such a positive happy vibe with them. They even kept me as the bride moving along as I easily get distracted and was already running behind schedule! I have seen countless wedding videos and CA Films are by far THE BEST! Our entire bridal party commented in the days after about how awesome Coco and the team were and wanted their info for future events. HIGHLY RECOMMEND CA FILMS!!

The pictures we received in our Sneak Peek are incredible - Janet and Sandy captured the love we felt on our wedding day. We are forever grateful to Sweet Spirit and highly recommend them to anyone looking for photography and/or videography.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
