Susanna was amazing! She came to our home and gave me and my husband a private cooking lesson for our first wedding anniversary. She was great at showing us how to do things like chop or mix up pasta dough. And the meal was to die for! Gnocchi in a brown butter and safe sauce, pappardelle with shrimp gremolata, and tiramisu for dessert. Delish!

Brian led a cooking class for myself and 14 friends. He did an excellent job keeping the group engaged, encouraging participation, and teaching skills that will be useful in the future. The meal itself was wonderful, and we appreciated Brian's attention to detail. Thank you, Brian!!

Jennifer is truly a light to the world. She has taught me the power of conscientious movement and nourishment through meditation, yoga, fitness and cooking. Her homemade raw chocolates and smoothies are what got me hooked - but her mindfulness and compassion are what made her a lifelong mentor for whom I am ever grateful. Her dedication to community-building and supporting others on their healing journey is remarkable. I highly recommend Jennifer's services to anyone looking for a deeper understanding of self on any level.

Marc has been somewhat of a godsend when it comes to making sure I'm fed right and when I host parties. He's one of the most personable guys I've met and has been able to cook everything I've asked to perfection. He's been cooking for me for a few years and I hope anyone reading this review will have a chance to taste his food.

Thanks, Clement for making my Mother's Day Brunch a hit. I was hesitant at first not knowing him but was so impressed with Clement. He was on time, efficient, great food my family loved him. Left my kitchen the way he found it, did the shopping ,and cooking. Very well prepared can't wait to do it again. Loved the experience we had with him.

Ro is my angel! She invited me to Whole Foods to learn about a Plant based lifestyle because I have RA, and little did I know how it would change my life! After 9 days of my new lifestyle, I was able to make a fist with my hands, which I have not done in 10 years, and I know this was because of my new diet. After that evening at Whole Foods, Ro became my "coach". I do not like to cook, nor did I have any idea how I was going to learn about this different way of eating. She taught me how to batch cook my new plant based diet and I have followed that lifestyle for over a year now. My inflammation that I had with my RA is now very minimal and I feel great! Ro is a fabulous and knowledgeable cook and an excellent mentor and coach.

Amanda is awesome! Whether you're looking for healthy meal prep/delivery or just need someone to cater a dinner with friends at your house -- she can handle it! Amanda prepares all of my meals and delivers them to me weekly, so I always know that I have delicious and healthy meals ready when it is time to eat. I just grab the labeled containers that she leaves in my refrigerator, and I'm ready to go. I have almost no time to prepare food, so this is extremely valuable to me. Amanda discusses my tastes and cravings, and designs a custom meal plan that is delicious and well-balanced. She has opened my eyes to so many healthy alternatives to foods that I love and to all sorts of new things that I never thought I would like. She always answers my questions and is really thoughtful in making sure I enjoy each meal and have something delicious for each day of the week. I can't recommend Amanda enough -- she truly helps me live a healthy lifestyle, and has even taught me how to prepare healthy meals for myself. I also had Amanda cater a dinner with friends, and it was such a great experience. She interacted with everyone and explained what she was doing. It was like a cooking class for all of us. Her gluten-free baked goods are phenomenal, and you definitely have to try her Cashew "Sour Cream" Sauce and vegan enchiladas! Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, paleo, gluten free, raw, etc, Amanda knows her stuff and will work with you to create some of the most delicious (and nutritious) foods you will ever eat.

    About

My work stands out for several reasons. First, I have professional training in both nutrition and chef areas. This allows me to not only teach how to cook healthy, but to explain why certain food choices are healthier for our bodies than other choices. Second, I meet my clients where they are in their journey. Changing one's lifestyle can be daunting, and it is my goal to help clients reach their goals based on their needs, capabilities, tolerances and other factors. Last, my approach is very personal. Based on my client's preferences, skills, and interactions, I adjust naturally to a style comfortable to them while still remaining true to who I am.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
