Tom McSweeney says, "I recently had an A/C coil fail and it was so poorly handled by my original HVAC company, I contacted Homefront Heating and Air.They responded quickly and at no charge diagnosed the problem.Unfortunately it was Friday so the replacement part wasnt available until Monday. They showed up on Monday morning and worked all morning until everything was replaced and working properly. The comparison of these two companies is amazing. The first company charged me $189 to tell me the coil had a small hole in it and gave me a repair estimate twice the price of Homefront. The five stars I gave this repair is well earned! Thanks guys."See more

From Michael S.

J&C AC
J&C AC
Replaced my coil 1 year and 20 days ago, but AC was not cooling with low pressure (low refrigerant) and residue on the shrader valve. Jeff come out and took a look and he said the leak was "definitely" coming out of the coil. I couldn't believe my luck and called back to the original installers to see what they could do about it. I spent hours on the phone with them and and the home warranty company to figure out how I could get reimbursed for this supposed manufacture defect. I told Jeff to do the work, but when his guys went out to change out the coil, they reported that they pressure checked it and the leak was not in the coil, but rather in the shrader valve as suspected!

Major complaints:

1) When I asked Jeff, if he did a leak check, how could he have said it was from the coil if he didn't have positive confirmation? He would not give me a straight answer. Holes don't plug themselves out of thin air.
2) Then he charged me $280 to replace the schrader valve and recharge. When I asked him for an itemized breakdown of the costs, he failed to give me one but just told me that they had to add 6 lbs of refrigerant. He quoted me $25/lb when we discussed it prior to the repair, but said that the price was $30/lb because of the labor...as if the labor was not included in the original price. Even if that was the case, I don't know how it could have cost $100 to replace the shrader valve. He said the inspection/diagnosis was free.
3) He told me that it would be "no problem" to take pictures (even volunteered to shoot a video) for proof of the leak check for the Home Warranty so I could get reimbursed, but when I asked him for it, he said he was "too busy making sure that the work was being done right to take the video." Translation...I forgot/or didn't do a leak check in the first place and you are out $280.
4) When he told me that my coil was bad, he said that it would cost me $75 to execute the warranty and get the new coil. This was because Carrier's policy is no fee if under a year. Since I was a year and a few days, I'd have to pay it. I had to call Carrier myself to get them to waive the fee, even though he said it was impossible.
5) Last time I checked with Carrier, they still had not received the warranty replacement coil back. Even though Jeff said he was going to return it, when I asked Jeff about it, he got defensive and asked why I cared. I care because Jeff caused me all this trouble and may be getting a free coil to boot! I normally trust people, but Jeff has been very shady...to the point where I beginning to suspect that a free coil was his intention from the start.
