Introduction: I've been teaching dance for 25 years and have had the pleasure of working with everyone from brand new beginners to one couple who won World's in their division on the C/W dance circuit. I teach ballroom, country, swing, Latin, and have choreographed musicals like "West Side Story" and "Jesus Christ Superstar."I love helping folks take their very first steps, even if they don't know their left from their right. Hey, we all start somewhere. I also cast and coached the first Radio Disney dance team in San Antonio. I wrote a column about dance for two years in "The Dancer’s Guide," as well as training manuals for several dance studios in Texas and an inspirational book titled, "KEEP BREATHING: zen and the art of social dance." My teaching ability earned me two articles in "Quality in Action," a worldwide educational magazine. I have led teacher training programs for four studios and was a "Guest Lecturer in Ballroom Dance" at Northwest Vista College here in SA. My philosophy? Dancing is fun. Learning to dance should be fun, too.

John is an excellent dance instructor who will work with anyone at different dance levels. My boyfriend and I are learning a couple dance and I have some experience, by he is a novice. John was very patient with him and very descriptive with me which challenged us in the best way! Highly recommend

John is exceptional dancer teacher whether you are a beginner or an advanced dancer. And, he's a nice guy too! His classes and private lessons are entertaining and super instructive. I run a local nonprofit that brought John in to teach people dance lessons and the next day I received phone calls and emails from the dancers saying how much they enjoyed John's class, even though we didn't ask for any feedback at all!

I began my west coast swing lessons with John several years ago, and now that my husband has retired, we take lessons with him together. We especially appreciate how well he can analyze how we are working together as we try to continually improve our technique along with learning new patterns. John always has a plan for our lesson, but he is ready to set it aside when we have specific requests for help in other areas. He quickly assesses our problem areas and targets them with grace, humor, and professionalism. We highly recommend him.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First private lesson for singles or couple is always free. I'm also willing to negotiate for groups and sometimes teach classes on a volunteer basis if I love the cause.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My goal is to discern how you learn and then teach you that way. Everyone is different. If you are a complete beginner, we start with basic movement concepts. If you are experienced dancers, I will check out what you know and build from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training my entire adult life. No one, no matter how good, knows everything. Also, as a teacher, it is important to me to always remember what it is like to be a newbie. Tapdance kicked my butt. It reminded me what it's like to struggle with new moves.
