Gerard was extremely professional during all stages of production, from working with me ahead of my speaking event, to scoping out the conference center early and working with me on creative ideas during the editing stages. He was easy to work with during my videography shoot and provided quality equipment for video and audio needs. He made sure I got exactly what I needed in a timely fashion. I would definitely use him again!

I provide Rick with a topic and he nails it.. every single time. If you're looking for serious bang-for-buck in an experience freelance writer, you ought to get Rick Tobin on your assignments roster.

An amazing editor. Not only shfixed all the Grammer issues I had in my cover letter, but she took a look at my resume and helped me write about skills I had on the resume but did not show in my cover letter. I will definitely be coming back to her again for any editing I will need in the future.

Emily tutored my 7th and 10th grade sons in reading comprehension and writing. She did an outstanding job, she was very patient with both boys, especially the 7th grader that hates to read. Their grades improved significantly. She started tutoring both boys together only once a week but we increased to twice a week, each of them individually for 90 minutes. If they had special assignments or reports to write, Emily made herself available to work with them above their regular tutoring sessions. She was always very professional and a joy to have around. She got to know the boys and worked with them based on their interests - she is an amazing tutor. I would highly recommend her.

I work hard to make sure that both my customer and myself are satisfied with the quality of the document that they have requested. It's very easy to dismiss the power of a well written resume or an inspiring quote to draw a consumer in, I make sure that doesn't happen.

I treat each project as if it were my own. Taking the requisite time and energy to achieve the best possible outcome. If I wouldn't put my name on the finished product, there is no point to wasting time and money. Since this is done on a consult level, we ask that all expectations are laid out in an engagement agreement prior to accepting the task.

I translate English to Spanish documents and I also do writing. I translate legal and medical terminology. I write articles on many different topics

You need quick, competent writing to explain the value of your product or service offerings in a manner that will entice people to give your business a try. I offer over 30 years of marketing writing experience for dozens of businesses with a wide variety of writing needs. I have had the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of writing projects from ghost writing portions of books, dozens of articles for accountants and attorneys, to proposal writing, writing website content, blog posts, social media posts, and just about any other types of writing your business may need.

I am a fiction and nonfiction writer and specialize in biographies and ghostwriting autobiographies. The descriptive elements of fiction lend nicely to biography writing, but so too does the intuition utilized to bring characters to life. Intuition is strengthened by experience and personal achievement, and victories can happen very often. We are connected through victory -- two parties can never communicate entirely about their respective personal experiences but can meet one another by the fact that we have fought and winning or losing are who we are now because of that fight. I hope to translate a person that I see into a project that works. I hope to be of service to your project!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
