My daughter, a high school senior, has been working with her outstanding LOM Tutor weekly since October when she started feeling overwhelmed by the higher-level concepts in her challenging Precalculus course. Several months later, she has earned an "A" for 1st semester! Last year, she struggled to make a "B-" in Algebra II, so her rising grade is quite an improvement. More importantly, her confidence and understanding of complex higher-level math concepts have also vastly improved. Although she has an excellent math teacher at the alternative high school program she attends, meeting with her weekly tutor has been invaluable because her tutor explains difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner in a nonthreatening environment of digital learning where my math-anxious perfectionist daughter does not feel intimidated. She has told me many times that having a private tutor has been the single most helpful thing she has ever experienced in her entire academic math career! I am very thankful for LOM for making exceptionally high-quality private tutoring affordable. As a parent with over 10 years of homeschooling experience, I am very satisfied with LOM products and programs, and I am looking forward to continuing to use LOM services and products with my son, who is now an 8th-grader. I discovered LOM tutoring because my son is using a LOM Pre-Algebra video course. I was going to sign up my daughter with a local private math tutor, but the cost was prohibitive; also, we live in a rural area, and we would have had to drive 45 minutes to find a tutor who was qualified to teach Precalculus. Digital learning is within our budget and much more convenient, since the tutor literally comes to my daughter for live interactive sessions via our computer. Although the tutoring sessions are not recorded for future review, this has not been a problem since my daughter takes notes and the tutor sends a written summary of each session to us immediately after each session. I researched extensively before choosing LOM tutoring services, and I do not believe there is a better option in this price range. Many of the other online tutoring services were impersonal, used a different tutor each week, and/or used international tutors (who are speaking English as a second-language and may not be familiar with math as it is taught in the United States, which I think should be avoided below the college level). Signing up for tutoring services was fast and very easy. I emailed LOM and the owner of the company (!) responded within a few minutes and offered my daughter a free sample tutoring session immediately; this was such a relief for my daughter, who had literally been crying in her room for an hour for fear that she was going to get a bad grade in math and, "...ruin my chances for getting into my favorite colleges." She loved the trial session, so we then set up regular weekly sessions with her own private tutor. Although they usually meet at the same day and time each week, the tutor has been flexible and encouraged my daughter to change the weekly session so it coordinates with her in-class tests. We cannot say enough about her phenomenal tutor! Oh, and by the way, my daughter was accepted at her first choice college, Willamette University, and at all the other private liberal arts colleges to which she applied early decision (Lewis and Clark, Linfield, and Pacific Lutheran University--she is waiting to hear from Whitman and University of Puget Sound). I could not more highly recommend the LOM tutoring service.

"A patient, intuitive and smart tutor who really connects with me" Sandeep is an expert. He exceeded my expectations. If you want the best and if you want the best results, go with Sandeep. Sandeep is an excellent tutor. He was extremely thorough and quickly found my weaknesses. he was extremely valuable when he focused on my weak points and we worked together to improve them. He also helped me write, edit and proofread my college applications, essays, resume and cover letter. I had a wonderful experience with Sandeep. I really enjoyed my sessions with him. He is brilliant and he connected with and engaged me and truly made SAT prep fun and positive for me. I was also looking for someone to help me write my personal statement for my college apps and to polish up my cover letter and resume. I was looking for someone with excellent writing skills. Sandeep knows how to how to present my strengths in my essays and applications. I also worked with Sandeep remotely for a while (phone, emails & fax) and that saved a lot of time. Since Sandeep's rate is on the higher side, I did not work with him initially, but after working with him, I know he's totally worth it. Having worked with other tutors in the past, I can say that Sandeep is the tutor and writer you need if you are looking for the best. Don't wait.

Sandy is awesome! She adjusts to your child's needs and doesn't judge your child based on what they may not know. My 13 year old son absolutely loves the way she explains math concepts and he actually looks forward to math now. My only regret is that I didn't find her years ago!

Jennifer Dean was my daughter's math tutor for a few years when she was experiencing challenges. Jennifer did a great job accessing her issues and created a learning program that not only helped her succeed in raising her grade but also gave my daughter the confidence to face math with positive attitude. She is an exceptional tutor. :)

Claire has had a great improvement in her algebra course as a freshman with Ms. Vecera. She is punctual, understanding, calm and to the point with her skills. It took Claire a good 4 lessons to know that we were with the right person. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a true up to date math tutor.

About

My explanations are tailored to the student who is eager to learn in an inspiring and fun way. First, I use the "old fashioned" step-by-step "long-hand" approach to show the logic, and then I move to a more simplified "short-cut" method. My love of learning encompasses my entire life, and the fun of problem-solving drives me to motivate the student to do his or her best. Nothing is more rewarding than to see the spark of understanding in the eyes of your students.

About

Do you have a hard time understanding math concepts? Is your math instructor unable to explain things in enough detail for you to comprehend? A professional mathematician, I have been equipped in the most effective techniques for teaching math. I am trained in customizing instruction specifically to your needs and making the most hard math topics easy to understand. My focus is providing you the knowledge needed to do the homework problems yourself. I can teach you the required skill set to assist you in passing your math courses. Also, I am experienced in preparing students for different tests, such as the TAKS, SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, etc. I have discovered that majority of students are perfectly capable of learning math. The big problem I see is inadequate self-confidence in math. My tutoring sessions are created to enhance the student's self confidence in a non-threatening and calm environment. Gentle encouragement is the reward given to student progress. Students are never reprimanded or criticized for showing a lack of understanding or asking questions. In fact, I encourage questions, and I regard mistakes as a learning opportunity. Nothing makes me happier than watching the light bulb switch on when a student finally understands a concept they thought was incomprehensible. I provide professional tutoring services in all topics in mathematics, including algebra, basic arithmetic, geometry, calculus and trigonometry to students of any age. I have a master's degree in math and am a college instructor in mathematics. For more than 15 years, I have been tutoring and teaching students in an extensive variety of math classes at the college level. I have consistently gotten excellent ratings from both peers and students on my teaching style. I have been educated in strategic tutoring technique. Traditional tutoring styles only offer assistance on specific assignments designated by their teacher as homework. Strategic tutoring makes the student learn how to master the learning strategies required for the specific subject, thus, in time, doing away with the need for a tutor. I can travel to your home to assist with studying for exams, homework, etc. I have a flexible schedule and charge $50 per hour. There is no charge for cancellations or mileage. There are no long-term commitments or contracts. Once you become my student, I won't charge rate increases for you.
