I contacted multiple contractors for major home renovation in Pearland. Out of all those Juan Perez JLD services stands out. He took his time to explain everything, provided me with places to buy material at wholesale prices and did a great job. He did my wood flooring, tile, carpet, kitchen/bathroom quartz, vanities, garage export, patio tile etc. His whole team is amazing. I am very happy with his services and glad that I found Juan Perez and will definitely used his services in the future. Don’t hesitate to hire him for all your home renovation needs.

Blast and Team did an outstanding job of installing a Cedar & Metal Roof Gazebo (Yardistry Kit). The project was fairly involved, but Blast put the extra time in to finish the job and clean up site. Will use him in the future.

It's my first time using SWS. I posted my project on Thumbtack for Move in/Move out one time whole house cleaning and I awarded the project to SWS among 4 bids I received based the good reviews and the competitive quote (not the lowest but better than I paid for the same kind of job before). The house is a recently vacated rental home and just had new laminate and tile floor installed so the house is dusty and soiled.Their team showed up on time and did a fair job. Like other review said, they are not using strong chemical so the tough water stain (soap gum) on the shower door could not be thoroughly removed. The new laminate floor was cleaned well, but the new tile floor had residual dust in the form of mop trails (I guess because of the heavy dust it would require a couple of more rinsing and changing dirty water). The manager Mark is a great communicator and customer service guy. He offered to come out the next day to redo the work to address our concern but because we wanted to put the house on the market the next day so my wife decide to finish it up so that we could take picture of the house. Overall I am happy with the service

Fred and his crew are simply the best! They are punctual, professional and friendly. They take pride in their work and the laminate wood flooring they installed for us come out better than we ever expected it too. Their workmanship is very impressive and the pricing was fair as well. He even educated us on the best ways to save money with the materials costs and recommended the products that he trusts and uses the most. We will definitely use/recommend Fred for any future flooring projects for us and our friends! A++ all the way!

After multiple estimates and offers which varied greatly. Their quote and another were very close. I chose them after reading the reviews - and I made a great choice. Price included installation, removal of carpet, moving of big furniture, and materials needed except flooring which we bought. They were quick to get me an estimate and then let me make a decision without any pressure. They were able to start just as soon as I had the floor delivered which they were willing to go get for us. They showed up with plenty of manpower (we were lucky as another job was delayed so more workers for us) and ready to move our furniture upstairs which was not needed as we decided to do it ourselves so they could start sooner. Carpet removal was done with no damage to the walls or baseboards. They did not disappoint and were able to put the an entire upstairs of 3 rooms and a hallway with bamboo flooring in ONE day. We were originally quoted FOUR days to include stairs to complete the job. TWO days for stairs alone. Our stairs were not done due to waiting on special snubnose that was to arrive here later in August which was not a problem as they stated to let them know when it would arrive and they would complete the job. The finishing to include painting of quarter round is to be completed when the stairs are done at our choice (they filled the nail holes and tidied up the quarter round and did the transition work as well already at our request instead of waiting) so we moved our furniture back in. (Painting of quarter round and baseboards is a small extra price as they hire it out). We paid for the work done and owe them the amount for the stairs. I was worried when trying to choose an installer as we had issues in the past, but they have exceeded my expectations and then some. Calling or texting Eduardo gets an almost immediate response. They are a family owned business who takes pride in their work and it shows. We will use them again as we already bought the flooring for an additional room upstairs to be done at a later time. Wife already wants to have rooms done downstairs now based on the work done upstairs. Will update review once work is complete.

I contacted Mr. Castro about an estimate on installing some bamboo flooring for me. He came out right away and gave me an estimate on the cost. I had many request; from moving some big furniture, to picking up the flooring I had purchased. He worked around my schedule; coming on two different weekends to finish the job. The flooring came out great.

We recently purchased new laminate flooring from a company, and had them install it. After a month, the laminate was bubbling. Wanting an opinion from someone else, I called Daniel Lanni of Westside Floors. He came out the same day, accurately assessed the problem (the laminate had been installed wrong), and got a crew here to tear the ruined laminate out within 2 days. He provided options (order the same laminate or get something different), and had one of his crews rework their schedule so they could install the laminate in a timely manner. Daniel's crew was on time, worked hard, was polite, and cleaned up everything perfectly. They installed the laminate correctly, even putting aside boards with small imperfections and obtaining replacement ones from the company. Daniel stopped by a number of times during the installation to make sure things were going smoothly. Such a difference from the original company's installation and crew! It is truly difficult to find this kind of excellent customer service these days. Daniel goes above and beyond to ensure his customers are happy and the job is done well. We would highly recommend Daniel Lanni and Westside Floors and would not hesitate to use them again!

Juan did an outstanding job on the laminate flooring in my townhouse! He was a little slow at responding to emails so at one point I wasn't sure if he was going to take the job, but he stuck to his word and did the job as described. The end results exceeded my expectations! Took him only a day to install and the job is beyond professional. Thank you, Juan!

David performed an excellent job in cleaning, recoloring and sealing my kitchen, foyer, and bathroom tile. He also sealed the wall tile in my bathtub/shower area. The results are beyond my expectations and at a very affordable cost. As David was moving a potted palm from my foyer to the dining room, the lip separated from the rest of the clay pot and crashed to the wood flooring. He promptly cleaned it up, examined the flooring to ensure there was no damage, and then discounted approximately $40 from my quote to pay for a replacement pot. This incident was in no way his fault; in fact, it appears the palm was overdue for re-potting in a larger container. Nonetheless, he took responsibility. Moreover, David offered to caulk around the toilet and tub to ensure a tight seal and is coming back after the weekend to do this at no additional cost. I am extremely satisfied with AAA Tile Masters and would absolutely recommend this company to others.

We had a good experience with Omar and MnM Floor Tech. Omar came out and measured and gave us a clear, detailed quote with affordable and easy to understand pricing. He gave us a start time and projected finish time and was within that frame. We purchased engineered wood flooring from Lumber Liquidators, but when the crew started opening the boxes to install it, they noticed that most of the planks were warped. Lumber Liquidators made the process of returning the flooring rather difficult, even though it was a factory defect with the entire lot and not our fault. Omar, on the other hand, went out of his way to help us. He called the company, went with me to talk to them at the store front, had two truck loads loaded up for return and went with me to another place to help me find replacement flooring, which he also loaded. He did several other things for us that made a difficult situation created by Lumber Liquidators more bearable. And thanks to his knowledge about flooring brands, we ended up getting a much better quality replacement product for the same price. Our friends have been admiring our floor so I was happy to give them Omar's phone number. I also look forward to being able to use MnM Flooring Tech for future projects. I encourage anyone with a flooring job to give Omar a call and let him sit down with you and go over your project. I loved how he wasn't in a hurry and wasn't inpatient with my questions. It is important to hire someone who treats your job like a priority, and Omar did that.

Mark painted my entire home, ceilings, walls, everything. Then he refinished and painted the cabinets. Then Mark got rid of all the carpet and did amazing tile work. It’s stunning. Very precise cuts on doorways and corners. He’s an artist. He replaced several fixtures as well. Faucets, toilets, new cabinets, etc. The home is truly a brand new paradise.

Andrew and his crew we so pleasant to work to. Got the job done in speedy time and took the care to do it well! We are so thrilled without bathroom remodel! They even had an issue in the job with a broken pipe and were quick to fix it with minimal additional cost. We will be using again in the future! See photos, replaced two bottom rows of shower tiles after rebuilding the shower pan, then installed new shower floor and area floor in bathroom. I couldn’t find exact matching tile but liked this tile better so once we save up we will be replacing it with Andrew as well!

Showed up as expected for the quote and the install. These guys worked really hard and Know what they are doing. The owner Ismael along with his family showed up and worked each day and got the job done within the agreed upon timeframe. I even had my base boards upgraded by this company. I was nervous because I am very particular but I am beyond pleased with the quality and service.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does it take to install a hardwood floor?

Hardwood floor installation can take anywhere from a few days to more than two weeks, depending on demolition, wood type, the condition of your subfloor, total square footage of the project, and installation method. Demolition is necessary if you have existing flooring you want to replace with hardwood floors. New-construction homes do not require this step, as the subfloor is primed and ready for floor installation. During demolition, the flooring crew may find that your subfloor has damaged wood, uneven surfaces or other problems that must be addressed before the new wood can be laid down. Crews may charge on an hourly rate for subfloor repair, and the work can take a few hours to several days, depending on what’s hiding underneath your floor. The wood for your new floor generally arrives a few days before any work begins. This allows the wood to acclimate to the relative humidity in your house, which prevents it from shrinking or expanding after installation and causing gaps or buckling. The actual wood installation may take several days or more, depending on the size of your home and what type of custom cutting and designs are desired. If your flooring is not prefinished, the unfinished wood must then be sanded and stained in the home to treat and protect your new investment. Typically, stain takes a full day to dry, and multiple coats are applied. Baseboards and trim must also be installed. With all these variables at play, you can see why it’s important for a wood installation pro to provide an estimate only after seeing your home.

How much does it cost to install flooring?

On average, Thumbtack customers nationwide pay $5,500 for floor installation. The cost can range much lower or higher depending on the type of flooring you select (laminate is far less expensive than exotic hardwood), the square footage of the project, and other important variables like demolition and repair work needed. Here are some examples of average floor installation cost:

  • Basic floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • This can range up to $7 or $8 per square foot when tear-out and prep work is required.
  • Laminate floor and installation cost: $3-$8 per square foot.
    • Laminate is one of the most affordable materials and can start as low as $1.50 per square foot.
  • Wood floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • $7 and up for hand-scraped oak planks and other specialized work.
  • Luxury vinyl tile installation: $3.50+ per square foot (not including tiles).
    • Cost includes prep work, underlayment, leveling and grouting.
  • Examples of additional floor installation costs:
    • Pouring concrete to level the under-flooring: $1,000-$1,500 for materials and labor.
    • Removing carpet: 35 cents or more per square foot.
    • Removing difficult ceramic or porcelain tile: about $2.25 per square foot.
      • Includes removal of the dura rock.
  • Floor repair: $75 minimum.

How much does it cost to install hardwood floors?

The cost of hardwood floors will depend primarily on the total square footage of flooring, the type of wood you select, the cost of labor in your region, and any preparation or repair work that needs to take place before installation. Selecting exotic woods, such as teak, will result in a higher cost for the project than a more affordable wood such as oak. The national average cost of hardwood floor installation is $5,750. Here are some examples of different woods and their average costs; actual costs will vary depending on the factors listed above.

  • Basic wood floor installation: $3 per square foot from a wood floor installation company.
    • The product cost for hand-scraped ¾-inch oak planks: $7 per square foot.
  • 620 square feet of maple floor:
    • Residential installation, total project cost: ~ $2,400 with five days of labor.
    • ¾-inch dark stained maple installed on top of new concrete in three rooms, a hallways, and a staircase.
      • Cost for total project: ~$3.87 per square foot.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
