I was not available to do the walk thru as we were PCSing out of state. My friend, who also is the home owner did, and she was thrilled! I will say working with the company was very easy. Their prices beat everyone else and I had steam cleaning of carpets included. I was pleasantly surprised that they said it would take 8-10 hours to clean the house. I was doubtful but they were there all day and cleaned the garage too. It is easy to write a poor review about a company and sometimes we forget to thank or praise when work is good. This company is someone who I would hire again in a heartbeat.

We hired Larry on two projects. He built us outside window shutters and what a difference it made on the appearance of our home. We were very well pleased. Outstanding job and very good price. He is now screening in our back patio and can't wait to see the results. Larry is very easy to work with and gives you the look that you expect. Highly recommend him.

I live in Georgia but my house needed repairs in Texas. I hired M and Y because I had hail damage to my windows and I need to sell my (rental) house ASAP. They ended up painting the exterior of my house (3200 square feet), replacing rotted wood trim, and glazing my windows. It looks great!! Once I hired him online, they began working right away. They pressure washed the first day and let it dry. Within 2 days, the complete job was finished. They finished before I made it to Texas! I would definitely use this company again.

Tony painted our 2500 sq. ft., 100 year old home recently. We are very picky first time home owners and first time to hire someone to paint our own home. This is a very honest review. Pros: 1. Did a fantastic job preparing the walls and repairing most areas that were cracked or badly damaged before painting. My husband is a construction superintendent, and can paint (no time to do) and commented he had never seen a painter go to those lengths to prepare walls before painting. He was very impressed. 2. Did a very nice job with painting. 3. Was here when he said he would be. 4. Was friendly and very trustworthy. 5. Was very patient to wait to begin while I took quite some time to pick paint colors. 6. Allowed us to wait as long as we needed between painting different areas of house. 7. Has come back multiple times with no complaints to fix any issues we have requested to be done. 8. Very, very, concerned with customer satisfaction. Cons: 1. Did not always cover floors and furniture properly as requested. We're still getting paint off our antique wood floors and trim. Paint was found on brand new upholstered chairs, piano, dressers and daughter's bedroom furniture and bedding. Even when using drop cloths would place paint bucket and wet rags on unprotected portion of floors 2. Does not agree with priming painted walls. Areas on den walls have "pictured framed" where we tested for paint color. Since we tested a LOT of paint, we, ourselves, primed the rest of the areas we tested and no picture framing is visible. Also, yellow is quite difficult to cover and still finding a few areas that the yellow is showing through. We used best paint and primer in one on market. 3. Would sometimes place drink cups, wet rags, and paint brushes on unprotected surfaces such as furniture, window sills and wood floors. We would use Tony again, and give him a very high recommendation if he will agree to cover every sq ft of flooring and furniture and prime if requested. With the exception of the cons, we think his quality of work is exceptional and price for our interior very fair. We do plan on hiring Tony to paint the exterior at some point in the future.

Anderson started the jon quickly when I called him. He came to my house to do my estimate that same day. His prices are very affordable compared to a lot of other estimates done for the same job. He did a good job painting and putting my doors on my house.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

    • Trim repair:
      • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
      • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
    • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
    • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
      • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
      • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
        • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
